Volunteers Needed for USOC FLAME Program
We are looking for volunteers to help at the USOC FLAME program on Thursday, July 27, 2017, at the Club at Flying Horse from 3:00p to 6:00p. The program will include four stations for students: Full Swing, Chipping, Putting and Career Development.

As we are now within one year of the MSR deadline, we want to remind you that we have a number of Drive, Chip and Putt volunteer opportunities that members can take advantage of. Opportunities to volunteer are available at the following events:

The Club at Ravenna Set to Host the Colorado PGA Women's Championship -- Registration Deadline Set for Aug. 16, 2016
The Colorado PGA's Women's Championship will be held Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 22-23, at The Golf Club at Ravenna. The championship is open to all female PGA and LPGA members in good standing whom reside or work within the Colorado Section boundaries.

2017 Colorado PGA Professional Championship -- Registration Deadline Aug. 23
Registration is now open for the 2017 Colorado PGA Professional Championship set for the Fazio Course at Red Sky Golf Club, September 11-13, 2017. The event is open to call Class A Members as well as members classified as Life Member Active and Life Member Master Professional Active. The entry fee for the event is $250. CBS Sports Presents "Turning Passion into Profession" July 16
On Sunday, July 16, CBS Sports will present "Turning Passion into Profession"-an hour-long special narrated by PGA Professional Gary McCord, which introduces viewers to PGA Professionals nationwide and highlights the diverse roles they play as experts in the game and business of golf. The program will air on CBS at 2 p.m. ET, prior to final-round coverage of the John Deere Classic.

Annual Dues Year Ending June 30, 2017
The annual dues invoices for the year ending June 30, 2017, were created and made available by PGA of America to members and apprentices in an email notification on May 9. If your dues have not yet been paid, you have until the end of July to do so. Unfortunately, if a late fee has been assessed, it can not be waived.

Buyout Firm Apollo to Buy Golf Course Operator ClubCorp for $1.1 Billion
Private equity firm Apollo Global Management LLC said on Sunday it had agreed to acquire ClubCorp Holdings Inc., one of the largest owners and operators of private golf and country clubs in the United States, for $1.1 billion.
In Colorado, ClubCorp operates the Omni Interlocken Resort Golf Club in Broomfield, Blackstone Country Club in Aurora and Black Bear Golf Club in Parker. It also runs country clubs in Fort Collins, Edwards and Carbondale and a business club in Colorado Springs.

Aspen OKs Plan to Spend $116k to Study Storing Water Under City Golf Course
The Aspen City Council agreed Monday to drill five or six test borings under the city's golf course and to dig as many as eight test pits on the course as part of a feasibility study of an underground reservoir. The city council will add $116,000 to an existing $53,000 contract to study water storage options under and on the 148-acre golf course.

Coloradans Connolly, Rogers, Nichamin Added to Field for CoBank Colorado Open
Three Coloradans were among the 15 players who qualified Tuesday at Eagle Ranch Golf Course for the 53rd CoBank Colorado Open. Brendan Connolly of Castle Rock shot a bogey-free 6-under-par 66 and shared medalist honors out of the 85-man field with Trevor Murphy of Saint Johnsbury, Vt., who also went bogey-free.
Other Coloradans making the grade for the $250,000 Open, which runs July 20-23 at Green Valley Ranch Golf Club in northeast Denver, were amateur Grant Rogers of Boulder (70) and amateur Sam Nichamin of Avon (71).

Westminster's Jennifer Kupcho Ready for the Challenge of the U.S. Women's Open
Jennifer Kupcho has a good plan of attack this week at the U.S. Women's Open at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, N.J. Kupcho, 20, is playing in her second straight Open, so nerves shouldn't be a problem. She won the Colorado Women's Golf Association stroke play tournament earlier this month for the fourth straight time.

Bryant captures his 2nd straight junior major, while Keating leaves Colorado a winner at CO Junior Am
For Davis Bryant of Aurora, Wednesday marked the continuation of something major, junior golf-wise, in 2017.
For Arielle Keating of Colorado Springs, it was a fitting end for her junior golf career in the state.
Bryant became the first boy to win two of the Junior Golf Alliance of Colorado's major championships by cruising to a seven-stroke victory in the Colorado Junior Amateur at Legacy Ridge Golf Course in Westminster.

Coloradan Hillary 23rd among girls, Stewart 37th among boys at IMG Academy Junior World tourney
Charlotte Hillary of Englewood remained in the top 25 at Wednesday's halfway point of the girls 15-18 division at the prestigious IMG Academy Junior World Championships being held in the San Diego area.

Drive, Chip and Putt Birthday Surprise

n Denver, CO hosted the fourth of seven local Drive Chip and Putt qualifiers on July 10. A registered field of 159 players competed for three qualifying spots in each age bracket, two alternates and the opportunity to move onto to the Sub-regional Qualifier to be held at Walnut Creek Golf Preserve on August 19. Winners from this event and prospective winners of future qualifiers will eventually be given the opportunity to compete at Augusta National Golf Club in the Drive Chip and Putt National Championship-a hallmark event of the Master's Week festivities since 2013.
