Message From Rabbi Bearman: Ballard Park Graffiti
June 30, 2017: "Dear TBC Family,
I wanted to let you know that this past Thursday
, I sat down with my colleague, Rabbi David Reiner, of Congregation Shir Shalom and Ridgefield's First Selectman, Rudy Marconi, to discuss the recent anti-semitic and racist graffiti that was found in Ballard Park earlier this month. Mr. Marconi emphasized how much this graffiti and the hateful sentiments behind it are not part of what he wants the Ridgefield community to be. At this point, the police are not able to share many details about their investigation, but they are working to identify the individual(s) responsible.
"Rabbi Reiner, Mr. Marconi, and I also spoke about the possible ways that we could bring a conversation about kindness and civility to the larger community. Over the next couple of months, we plan to meet multiple times to continue that important work.
I am glad to know that the town and Mr. Marconi are taking this so seriously, and I will continue to update you with any new information that I receive."
B'vracha (with blessing), Rabbi Bearman

The Founders' Fellowship
From Rabbi Bearman: "We know many college students from the TBC community who would be perfect for this fellowship opportunity! Calling all incoming college freshman, sophomores, and juniors! 'Just as our founders were unwilling to sit idly by and accept the status quo, so too are we looking to act towards renewal. Are you ready to shift paradigms and re-imagine progressive Jewish life on campus?'"

It is traditional to light a memorial candle on the eve of the yahrzeit at home and to recite Kaddish when lighting the yahrzeit candle. It is also a custom to make donations in memory of loved ones around the time of yahrzeit.
