Intel to Invest $178 Million to Expand Innovation, R&D in India 
 
Intel announced it will invest more than $178 million to expand its R&D presence and build a new state-of-the-art design house in India. The proposed facility, with approximately 620,000 square feet of space, will be located at Intel's 44-acre campus in Bengaluru.  "Intel India plays a very strategic role in Intel's growth, with significant contributions to Intel's technology and product leadership," said Nivruti Rai, Intel India general manager, vice president of Data Center Group.

'GNR:' The Indian Scientist Who Pioneered Protein Research    
 
James Watson and Francis Crick made history in 1953 with their discovery of DNA's "double helix" structure, the building blocks of life that are made up of proteins. Yet an Indian scientist - G.N. Ramachandran, aka GNR - first discovered the structure of collagen, the most abundant protein found in all animals, including humans, and used in biochemical engineering today. GNR's findings marked a milestone in the understanding of proteins.

The Third International Day of Yoga was celebrated last month on the National Mall in Washington, DC. Organized by the Embassy of India and Friends of Yoga, Ambassador Navetj Sarna and other participants performed yoga near the Washington Monument and Sylvan Theater.
