You're invited to a church family pool party, hosted by the TOTH Vestry, at East Park Pool, Saturday, July 15, from 6 - 8 pm.
Saturday night is floatie night at East Park Pool, which means that you can bring whatever water inflatables you like and play with them in the pool. There is a diving pool with high and low boards, a toddler wading pool, and lifeguards, who will be on duty throughout the evening (parents are responsible for small children in the wading pool).
We will provide pizza and drinks. Bring other food if you would like. You don't have to be a pool member to join in the fun. Vestry members and clergy look forward to seeing you there to relax and cool off.
     Hope to see you there!

FIRST CALL FOR AUCTION DONATIONS
Trinity Builders (which includes some House of Hope ladies) will have their popular Tea and Fashion Show on Saturday, August 26. They truly appreciate all the support from congregation members in the past and hope for another successful event this year!
Items in previous silent auctions have included jewelry, ceramics, sculptures, scarves, dishes, tea sets, placemats, wall hangings, photographs, cutting boards - many handcrafted, but also bought or on hand. Very popular have been "services" and gift certificates. These have included plants, flowers, babysitting, cookies or pies each month, bird watching trips, airplane rides, rafting adventures, band performances, gourmet dinners, etc.
Please think about how you can contribute to this most worthy cause and watch for more information about the tea and the house building mission soon!
Please contact Cathy Walters with any questions and offers of help or donations. Deadline for donations will be August 20 (only 5 1/2 weeks away!)

Faith and Science Forum Summer 2017
Hope: Looking into the Future

TONIGHT: "Looking into the Future: Prediction and Prophecy"
On Wednesday, July 12, Dan Winske continues the Los Alamos Faith and Science Forum summer series by speaking on "Looking into the Future: Prediction and Prophecy".  In this talk Dr. Winske examines the methodology of predicting the future, both in the context of science and of religion. In particular, he will survey how the scientific method allows making trustworthy predictions of future physical environments. He then shows how essentially this same methodology can be used to examine the validity of prophecy and promise from religious traditions (e.g., the Old Testament).
The theme of the summer series talks is "Hope: Science, Religion and the Future".  The meetings will follow our usual format: light supper at 6 pm, talk at 6:30, followed by questions for the speaker and then table discussions. These talks will be in the Fellowship Hall of the Unitarian Church (1738 N Sage Loop, Los Alamos, NM). On July 19, Chick Keller will speak on "Technology and Hope".

The Los Alamos Faith and Science Forum (LAF&SF) is an incorporated 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization seeking to understand faith and science and how they fit together.  The website is
www.lafsf.org .

Faith and Science meets weekly on Wednesdays, 6pm at the Unitarian Church on North Sage, near 15th:

Week 5 - July 12 - Looking into the Future by Dan Winske
Week 6 - July 19 - Technology and Hope by Chick Keller
Week 7 - July 26 - Religions and Hope panel discussion

You, too, Can Host a High School Student this Fall or Next Spring!
Host a high school exchange student and make this an enriching year for your family. "Share! Your Heart and Home" places students with local households in Los Alamos, etc. [Remember Szonke who lived with the Carr family? He came through this program!]
