United Nations Young Professionals Programme (YPP)
The Young Professionals Programme (YPP) is a recruitment initiative for talented, highly qualified professionals to start a career as an international civil servant with the United Nations Secretariat.
The application process consists of an entrance examination, held once a year, and is open to nationals of countries participating in the annual recruitment exercise. All applicants must be 32 or younger, holding at least a bachelor's degree.

British-American Parliamentary Group (BAPG): A Project for the United Kingdom on The U.S. Legislative Process
We are pound to announce that at the end of July, WorldBoston will be hosting eight members of the British parliament through the British-American Parliamentary Group.
This group will be reviewing the institutions, processes, and traditions of the U.S. political system, the division of powers, and the U.S. electoral system at federal, state, and local levels. They will also examine state and local initiatives for regional economic development.

Evening Reception with Microbiologist, Hosam Zowawi
Join us for a free, evening reception and talk with microbiologist, Hosam Zowawi, in partnership with Washington, DC-based institution, Middle East Institute. Described as the "Superbug Fighter", according to
National Geographic
, Zowawi has examined antibiotic-resistant bacteria, a growing, global threat to public health. In his home country of Saudi Arabia and the rest of the Persian Gulf, Zowawi is working to spread awareness of the threats and dangers associated with superbugs. He hopes to continue alerting the public of his research, hopefully
hitting 15 countries by the end of 2017.

A Project for Japan on Labor Policy and Gender Equality
July 15-19
A delegation from Japan will focus on labor policies and how they are applied in the U.S. The objectives of the visit will be to foster leadership, with a focus on diversity and women's empowerment; establish a network between U.S. and Japanese business promoting diversity; motivate and inspire female leaders; and support the inclusion of male leaders to introduce diversity.

A Regional Project for East Asia and the Pacific on Regional Responses to Migration Issues and Community Integration
July 18-22
A delegation of visitors representing 6 countries will examine procedures for adjusting the size of responses to the scale of the challenges caused by mass migration; work towards understanding the root causes of mass migrations; research best practices in government and organizations to ensure respect for due process and human rights; discuss methods for mitigating human trafficking to promote effective responses to the movements of people across borders; and look into best practices in community integration of migrants.

A Project for Pakistan on Pakistani Youth
July 20-22
A delegation from Pakistan will focus on religion, peace, and pluralism while in Boston. The objectives of the U.S. visit will be to increase capacity to counter violent extremist narratives with a focus on vulnerable populations; demonstrate the oversight role of the state in determining that instruction and socialization of students in private and faith-based schools meets state education standards; showcase religious and social diversity in the U.S.; and explore the role faith-based schools play in promoting interfaith dialogue and tolerance.

A Project for Indonesia on Entrepreneurship Incubators
July 20-26
A delegation from Indonesia will be focusing on university and venture capital supported entrepreneurship development, as well as state and local government support for entrepreneurs in Boston. The objectives of the U.S. visit will be to learn how entrepreneurial capitalism works in the American economy; examine models of entrepreneurship education; explore how entrepreneurs find new business opportunities and expand existing companies; assess the effects of trade liberalization in developing countries; and learn how government and nongovernment programs assist entrepreneurs.

A Multi-Regional Project on The Role of NGOs in Promoting Women's Issues
A delegation of visitors, representing 21 countries, will examine the diversity of the NGO sector within the U.S. and its function within a larger network of government, business, faith based organizations and academic entities working on women's issues; discuss the role and the relationship between NGOs and government at the federal, state, and local level in supporting domestic and global women's issues; explore the intersectionality of the challenges facing women, focusing on the work of NGOs addressing these issues; and review the methods and best practices used by NGOs to empower women and girls to advocate for themselves.

A Project for Russia on Empowering Communities to Prevent Radicalization
July 30 - August 2
A group from Russia will examine best practices for engaging youth to counter violent extremism; explore means for establishing cooperative relationships with local government, law enforcement, administrators and news media; assess methods of promoting interethnic and inter religious tolerance as an alternative to hate, violence, and radicalization; and analyze challenges that minority and religious organizations have faced in unfriendly environments and advocacy techniques employed on their behalf.

The International Visitors Leadership Program (IVLP) is the U.S. Department of State's premier professional exchange program and WorldBoston's main citizen diplomacy partner. Launched in 1940, the IVLP is a professional exchange program that seeks to build mutual understanding between the U.S. and other nations through carefully designed short-term visits to the U.S. for current and emerging foreign leaders. These visits reflect the International Visitors' professional interests and support the foreign policy goals of the United States.
The U.S. Department of State's bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs administers the IVLP. In doing so, the bureau enters cooperative agreements with National Program Agencies, a group of private, not-for-profit organizations based in Washington, D.C., that design and implement national IVLP itineraries. In addition to the National Program Agencies, the IVLP relies on the commitment and skills of local community organizations across the U.S., known as Centers for International Visitors (CIVs). Under the professional association of Global Ties U.S., local CIV members develop professional programs, arrange cultural activities, and provide home hospitality for international visitors.
WorldBoston is part of the Global Ties Network of more than 90 CIVs in 45 states.
