The Benefits of Diesel (read more here)
Road Map with Caley Edgerly: A Bright Future for Diesel
You've heard me speak once or twice about the benefits of diesel. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: diesel today is just as clean if not cleaner than any other alternative fuel. It's proven, reliable, cost-effective, efficient and the best fuel of choice for most districts.

But let's switch gears for a minute. Let's talk about the  future of diesel. I've seen the future, and let me tell you that it is a bright one.

Cummins recently debuted its revolutionary new engine lineup with significantly redesigned emissions controls and improved fuel efficiency. What this means is that school buses running with these new engines will see significant fuel cost savings and even lower emissions.

Coming up, in 2018, the Detroit™ DD5™ and DD8™ engines will debut. The DD5 is the latest in medium-duty engine technology combined with the most advanced connectivity platform in the industry. It will offer best-in-class fuel economy and reliability and the longest service intervals in the class. Plus, the emissions from the DD5 are ninety percent cleaner at the tailpipe than diesel emissions were 10 years ago.

This is an exciting time for Thomas Built Buses and for all of our customers who know and love diesel. Diesel has a bright future, and the future isn't far off.

Stop Arm Violators
Today the School Bus Stop Arm Violation Increases from $300 to $500. Read the press release from the MN State Patrol. There is still more work to do, as can be seen from the state wide numbers. If there are 700 violations counted in one day and only 1400 tickets written yearly, that is a significant gap. For the safety of MN children, we need this violation treated as a serious safety issue by everyone.
