Fairhaven Winterfest 2017

The Historic Fairhaven Association will be collaborating with community partners, merchants, and neighbors to create a WinterFest in Fairhaven during November and December with visits from Father Christmas, Carriage Rides, Lighting of the Christmas Tree, a treasure hunt searching for Elves, performances from the Circus Guild & street performers or musicians entertaining us on the street corners.

The festival will kick off on Friday, 24th and Saturday, 25th November 2017.

The Historic Fairhaven Association would like to invite your Not-For-Profit Organization to be part of the festivities on Saturday, 25th November (12pm - 5pm) at the Christmas Market on the Fairhaven Village Green. Your organization can host a 10x10 booth in the heart of the festivities where you can fundraise by offering a service, sales of gifts/crafts or anything your organization can imagine while bringing awareness to your agency.

You play an important part in the life and vitality of our community. Though the village acts as the commercial center of our neighborhood, the Historic Fairhaven Association is dedicated to supporting and bringing awareness to the greater community. We hope you can join us

Invitation to Apply for the Co-op's 2018 SEED Program / Community Shopping Day
Application Deadline September 1, 2017

The Co-op's Member Affairs Committee invites you to apply for the 2018 SEED program that includes Community Shopping Days (CSD). The 12 shopping days fall on the third Saturday of the month, and each SEED recipient receives two percent of the combined sales from all three Co-op locations on its designated shopping day. SEED recipients are also featured on a bulletin board display at the front of both stores for the entire month and, in months when it is published, included in the Co-op News. Throughout the awarded month, Co-op shoppers can also donate to the SEED recipient of the month at any Co-op register.

Awards focus on one or more of the following areas: food and sustainable agriculture; social justice, peace, and human rights; ecological issues; education; health and well being; and community development. Based on the recommendations of the Member Affairs Committee, which reviews every application, the Board will select 12 community organizations for the SEED program.

Every year we receive more applications than we can fund. If you aren't selected this year, we encourage you to re-apply next year. Organizations that were awarded a 2017 SEED are asked to sit out one year before reapplying.

Please click here to view the 2018 Community Shopping Day Application. If you have trouble opening the document, try to open it in a different browser.

 WhatCalendar!
Website designed to promote local events and prevent date conflicts

WhatCalender is a website designed to promote local events and help event planners avoid date conflicts has been launched by the Bellingham/Whatcom Chamber of Commerce & Industry.

The website can be reached through two domain addresses:
http://www.whatcalendar.com/events/2017-09/  and www.BhamEvent.com . It is emphasizing community events in Whatcom County that are open to the public, fundraisers, galas, ticketed events, major events that will draw more than 500 people and athletic competitions such as runs, races and soccer tournaments. The website isn't designed for weddings, regular or recurring events and meetings, and events that are open only to an organization's members.  We are encouraging nonprofit organizations to use this new tool to schedule and promote events as we will be taking the current nonprofit scheduling calendar down.

The event listings are free and open to all Whatcom County residents, not just Bellingham/Whatcom Chamber members.

"A movement is not a flash of light - it is a flame, a torch passed from one generation to the next and every so often we are blessed with moments where the smolder transforms to blaze again and we're forced to race down the path of progress."

It was with these inspiring words by poet Mayda del Valle - set to motion, photography, and song through the video "Our Moment" - that PolicyLink opened Equity Summit 2015. Over the next three days, as 3,000 diverse stakeholders shared insights, forged new collaborations, and strategized around some of the nation's most intractable challenges, the message of this video echoed throughout the sessions, discussions, and performances.
