"Write this Way" Writing Contest
Submissions are being accepted for the 3rd annual Brock Township Public Library Write This Way writing contest. Established in honour of Peg Baillie, the amateur writing contest has three categories : Junior (Grade 7-8), Teen (Grade 9-12) and Adult. Prizes are awarded in each category. First prize is $125.00, second prize is $75.00, and third prize is $50.00. Short stories or essays should be no longer than
1500 words and there is a limit of one entry per person. Entries will be blind judged by a three member panel representing the Beaverton, Cannington and Sunderland areas. Winners will be announced at the contest gala, October 19th, Ontario Public Library Week. Further information and submission cover sheets may be found at

The Canada 150 Epic Lake to Lake Adventure Ride will be the first of its kind along
Lake Simcoe to Lake Ontario on the Lake to Lake Trail in Durham Region. The ride will start in Beaverton and utilize the Beaver River Trail between Beaverton and Blackwater and The Great Trail (Trans Canada Trail) between Blackwater and Ajax.
Registration Fees:
$20.00 per rider (for any distance)
$25.00 per rider for bus transportation.
The bus will pick you up in Ajax and drop you at your start location in Beaverton, Cannington or Ajax. For those who need a ride back to Ajax the bus will wait in Uxbridge until after lunch.
