   DOWNTOWN REHABILITATION AND STREETSCAPES PROJECT  
Phase 1 and 2 Update (101 Street/101 Avenue)
 
Construction Details and Schedule
 
Underground work on the entirety of Phases 1 and 2 is anticipated to be completed by the end of August. This is a milestone for the Downtown Rehabilitation and Streetscapes Project. Underground work includes the replacement of deep utilities such as storm, sanitary, and water lines.
 
Paving activities at the intersection of 101 Street and 102 Avenue have completed, this intersection is open to vehicle and pedestrian traffic.   
Crews are currently completing underground work on 101 Avenue between 102 Street and the Golden Age Centre. The intersection of 101 Avenue and 102 Street has been re-opened to one lane of traffic each way. This area temporarily has a gravel surface as crews plan to install storm lines at a later date. This section is expected to remain open for the duration of the Bear Creek Folk Festival.
 
Paving stone installation continues along 101 Street between 99 Avenue and 100 Avenue. It is anticipated this area will be open to pedestrians and vehicle traffic at within the next one to two weeks.
 
Traffic Accommodation
New in Traffic:
  • 100 Street at the intersection of 101 Avenue has been opened to two lanes of southbound traffic.
  • 100 Avenue at the intersection of 101 Street has also been opened to two lanes of traffic.
  • 102 Street is temporarily open to one lane for northbound and southbound traffic. This section is anticipated to close again at a later date to accommodate the installation of storm lines.
 
Continued Closures:
  • 101 Street is closed to vehicle traffic and parking between 99 Avenue and 102 Avenue excluding the intersection of 100 Avenue.
  • 101 Avenue is closed to vehicle traffic and parking between 102 Street and 100 Street.
 
Pedestrian Access
  • 101 Avenue between 101 Street and 100 Street is open to pedestrians on both the north and south side.
  • 101 Avenue between 102 Street and 101 Street is closed to pedestrians.
  • A pedestrian crossing is available on both the north and south sides of the intersection of 100 Avenue and 101 Street.

The Grande Prairie Storm are having an Alumni Hockey game featuring many of the players from previous years including Pittsburgh Penguins Stanley Cup winner Carter Rowney! This will take place on August 18th  at 7:30pm to kick start our Golf Scramble Fundraising Event which takes place on August 19th  at the Dunes Golf and Winter Club.
