DID YOU KNOW? Singers and those who love music are invited to join an Anglican Heritage Pilgrimage to England, July 12-23, 2018. After exploring London, Windsor Castle and Canterbury Cathedral, we will use Portsmouth Cathedral as a home base; our gift is to offer the Cathedral a TOTH "Pilgrim Choir" to sing several Evensong services and a Sunday principal mass. Between rehearsals (and while singers are rehearsing), a luxury coach will take the group many places in the region including Oxford, Bath, Brighton, Salisbury, Stonehenge, HMS Victory and the Mary Rose! If you think you might be interested, please contact John Singleton or Judy Crocker very soon. The church has already paid a deposit to the tour company! The cost, including airfare, accommodations and two meals a day, will be something less than $5,000 per person (depending on single/double occupancy) for airfare, transport, accommodations, entry fees, two meals a day, etc. Not included is your pocket money, travel insurance, and a handful of meals on your own.
Scholarship funds will be needed to help our youngest singers participate, so if you can't go, please consider contributing to the TOTH Youth Choir Scholarship Fund. Thanks to all who have committed to the tour or donated already!

PARISH POOL PARTY: NOTE THE DATE CHANGE
The Vestry sponsored pool party scheduled for Thursday, July 27 has been moved to Thursday, August 3 at 6pm. It is still at the home of Rick and Lisa Rothrock. The move enables more participation from our youth, many of whom are still in PA on the Youth Choir trip.

PLEASE COLLECT YOUR SIX-MONTH GIVING STATEMENT and save the church a first-class stamp! These statements will be in the office during the week and in the narthex next Sunday, then those that remain will be put in the mail. Why pick it up? Because the office would like to be sure it is an accurate record. Please check your statement against your records and let the office know of any errors that need correcting. Thanks!

CALL FOR AUCTION DONATIONS
Trinity Builders (which includes some House of Hope ladies) will have their popular Tea and Fashion Show on Saturday, August 26. They truly appreciate all the support from congregation members in the past and hope for another successful event this year!
Items in previous silent auctions have included jewelry, ceramics, sculptures, scarves, dishes, tea sets, placemats, wall hangings, photographs, cutting boards - many handcrafted, but also bought or on hand. Very popular have been "services" and gift certificates. These have included plants, flowers, babysitting, cookies or pies each month, bird watching trips, airplane rides, rafting adventures, band performances, gourmet dinners, etc.
Please think about how you can contribute to this most worthy cause and watch for more information about the tea and the house building mission soon!
Please contact Cathy Walters with any questions and offers of help or donations. Deadline for donations will be August 20 (less than a month away!)

Faith and Science Forum Summer 2017
Hope: Looking into the Future
TONIGHT:
"Religions and Hope"
Religions provide varieties of short-term, long-term, and eternal hopes and pathways to them. In our culture everyone is free to choose from these hopes or to live without them. In this final session (Wednesday, July 26) a panel is scheduled to share four faith perspectives on hope:
- Rabbi Jack Shlachter (also a scientist) will present Jewish hopes;
- Connon Odom (engineer and Los Alamos Church of Christ deacon) will present comments on Christian hope versus optimism from N.T. Wright (Anglican theologian);
- Sat Purkh Kaur Khalsa (trainer, musician, and author on women's perspectives) will summarize Sikh views of hope and;
- Pastor (and licensed clinical social worker) Nicole' Ferry (Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church) will introduce the book, "The God of Hope and the End of the World," by John Polkinghorne (scientist-Anglican priest-theologian).
The theme of the 2017 summer series talks is "Hope: Science, Religion and the Future". This final meeting of the summer will follow a modified format: light supper at 6 p.m. and talks from 6:30 to about 7:45 p.m., each followed by questions for the speaker. The light supper will include enchiladas and sides from El Parasol and a sheet cake from Smith's. Table discussions will be more limited than usual due to time constraints, ending formally at 8 p.m. These talks will be in the Fellowship Hall of the Unitarian Church (1738 N Sage Loop, Los Alamos, NM).
The Los Alamos Faith and Science Forum (LAF&SF) is an incorporated 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization seeking to understand faith and science and how they fit together. The website is
www.lafsf.org
.
Faith and Science meets weekly on Wednesdays, 6pm at the Unitarian Church on North Sage, near 15th:
Week 6 - July 19 - Technology and Hope by Chick Keller
Week 7 - July 26 - Religions and Hope panel discussion
