Our Vision Statement
Old North Church is an inclusive Christian Community called to bring to life God's love and grace by sharing the gospel for this time and place; extending the hospitality Christ showed; embodying God's love and compassion to those in need; and growing together in our understanding and experience of the Holy Spirit at work in our midst.
Sharing Sad News
With sadness, we are sharing the news that Mary Ann Main passed away on Tuesday, July 25. Bill is very grateful for the calls, visits and support from church members and friends. If you are trying to reach him, please note that Bill is using his cell phone number and that the landline is no longer in service. He can be reached at 617-510-0401 or [email protected]. If you would like to send a card, Bill lives at 23 Hillside Ave in Marblehead. A memorial service will be held in September.
Glimpses of Grace

This week's Glimpse of Grace was shared by Dee and Annie Burgett.  Annie wrote the sonnet as a gift for Dee's birthday.  The drawing is done by Dee.

The Sea
Salt breezes blow o'er water blue and gold.
It folds and dips and sways as if a hand
past the horizon grasped its edge and rolled
it out, creating shining swells so grand.
The sea's vast canvas stretches smooth and still
As colors melt and seep from sinking sun
And spill upon clear waters, painting till
they overflow with peach and orange runs.
The ocean watches sun turn into star.
Its silken beauty shimmers in the night,
The waves an inky, silken skirt spread far,
It dances 'neath the pearly moon's soft light.
The ocean's heart beats in and out of time,
It breaks and billows, a body sublime.

Please share your Glimpses of Grace
A great gift of summertime is the chance to break our routines and for time to relax and recharge our spiritual batteries. Whether we get away or enjoy a "stay-cation" at home, hopefully we get a chance to breathe deeply, enjoy life at a slower pace, and notice things we don't usually notice. We get glimpses of grace we're often too busy to see.

This summer let's share some of those glimpses of grace. While you enjoy the season's beauty, take a picture of an inspiring place or a person or thing, along with a sentence or two that tells how it touched you. Email it to the church office ([email protected]) with "Glimpses of Grace" in the subject line. We'll share as many as we can in this space each each week.
We Need Contact Info Updates!

We will be working on updating the ONC Membership Directory this Summer to have available in the Fall.  If you have had any recent changes in e-mail or home addresses, phone numbers, or family information, please notify the church office ([email protected]) as soon as possible to assure that we have accurate information to distribute.

Summer Food Drive for The Marblehead Food Pantry

From July 25 through August 8, a special Summer Food Drive will be conducted to benefit The Marblehead Food Pantry with donation boxes at five locations. Despite the very generous donations throughout the year from individuals and organizations - including the member denominations of the Marblehead Ministerial Association - the shelves of the Marblehead Food Pantry especially need re-stocking at this time of year. "Keeping the shelves of The Marblehead Food Pantry well-stocked is a special challenge from mid-July to mid-September," explained Janet Fitch Parker, the food pantry's director. "The bounteous amount of food that we received at the May Postal Drive has, in good part, been used up, and significant donations don't usually start in earnest until schools open and the holidays approach." The Summer Food Drive is sponsored by The Rotary Club of Marblehead Harbor with special assistance from ElderAct of Marblehead and Swampscott.

Donation boxes will be set up at:  Crosby's, Shubie's, Marblehead Bank, National Grand Bank, The Marblehead Community Center. Donations can be dropped at the above locations during regular business hours. For more information, please contact Jessica Barnett, 781-639-0624 or [email protected].

Career Transitions Now Meets on Thursdays at Noon
During the summer the Career Transition Group meets weekly on Thursdays from 12 to 1 pm in the Beals Room at the 8 Stacey Street office.  Anyone in job transition (whether re-entering the workforce, seeking employment after a layoff or just looking for a different job) is welcome to attend.  Participants will share job search strategies, network, work on resumes, enjoy spiritual support and more.  Bring your lunch and drop in every week or whenever you can.  There is no cost to participate.  We look forward to serving those who need support while looking for work.  For more information email Michael Perez, [email protected].

Summer 2017 Lighthouse Services

Throughout the summer and ending the Sunday of Labor Day weekend, the  8am worship service will be held at the    Marblehead Lighthouse, at Chandler Hovey Park. In the event of rain, the service will be held in the Sanctuary.  The 10am service will continue to be held in the Sanctuary.
