Business Recovery Hotline
Data from the first week of the Business Recovery Hotline, shows that businesses impacted by the wildfires are in trouble. The hotline, organized by the BC Economic Development Association (BCEDA) and FortisBC, is receiving calls from businesses that have lost revenue while accruing operating expenses and have little information about what kind of financial assistance is available to them.
Depending on call volumes, the hotline may close at the end of this week. Please send the time sensitive information below and the attached poster to your local businesses and encourage all to call in. The information they provide is a critical piece in helping us encourage supports from agencies that are all working hard to help everyone recover from the devastating wildfires.
BC BUSINESSES IMPACTED BY WILDFIRES
· Business damage or loss
· Evacuation
· Road closure
· Staffing shortages
· Unable to get deliveries
· Perception that business was closed

What's happening with the Summer Festival???
Summer Festival Update
Hello South Cariboo! Are you ready for a little fun? The committee has met and agreed that September 3rd will be a great day to celebrate and appreciate our friends, neighbors, all the people that saved our homes, businesses and life styles. The event will take place in Centennial Park.
If you are a food vendor, vendor, business that wants to be involved, someone who would like to volunteer ( I am compiling names)
If you purchased rib fest tickets please email me regarding. We are still hopefully we can run that portion.
If you have something to offer the event please also let me know. Most of our sponsors for the Summer Festival have agreed to let their sponsorship donations transfer to this new event. Of course there is money that has been collected that is requested back and there is money we have paid out that we cannot collect back but we are still moving forward.
The one thing that we would like to get out there is the entry to the event will be FREE!!
We are still working on our entertainment line up (if you know of someone with some talent that would like to perform let me know), we will have a kid zone, games for everybody, vendors, farmers market, beer gardens, cake, food for purchase, toonie toss, Jelly bean guessing contest and MAYBE a duck race in the creek. Canim Lake Band will be in attendance with drumming, dancing, displays, bannock and much more.
If you want to volunteer for the games committee please email me at [email protected]
