 Unpack & Unwind

Everyone deserves a family vacation including, and perhaps most especially, the family dog!  We love dogs around here and many local lodging properties welcome furry guests.

It's time for smores and nights under the stars.   Burke Cottage Rentals & Campground offers spacious tent sites, four cottages, a peaceful & quiet location, and a brand spankin' new bathhouse with indoor restrooms and showers.

Wilderness Lodge, located near the Burke Bike Park, offers over 1,900 square feet of space and room for ten.  The beautifully renovated house offers a full kitchen, four bedrooms, washer/dryer, and a backyard space with a grill for your group or family getaway.

Over on Darling Hill Road, enjoy some luxury at the Inn at Mountain View Farm.   Elegant guestrooms and suites feature antique décor and some offer Jacuzzi tubs.  Located on 440 acres, with direct access to mountain biking trails, the inn is also home to the Mountain View Farm Animal Sanctuary.  Stop in and say hello to the goats, donkeys and other critters that get to call this spot home.

Burke Vacation Rentals offers over 50 properties including cabins tucked in the woods, townhomes, condos, chalets, and houses.  Each offers something special whether it be a gourmet kitchen, outdoor fire pit, or acres of privacy.  Many rentals are also pet friendly.
 Deal of the Month

Have you heard of those online dining services where you can purchase the ingredients for a fancy meal and then whip it up at home with ease?   Well, there's a new service you can use and it's right in the NEK so you can enjoy a great meal and support a local business!   Kingdom Provisions offers locally sourced ingredients, easy online ordering, and delivery to your door for farm-to-table meals that will get everyone talking about the new chef in town!
Favorite Hole in the Wall Spots

Summer is all about getting off the beaten path to discover something new.  Around town and on the backroads, you'll pass by lots of small, unassuming looking homes or buildings, but stop the car and don't be fooled.  There's something cool going on inside.  Here are just a few of our favorite Hole in the Wall (or Trail) spots to venture off to on your next visit to the area:

Looking for a cappuccino or chai latte?  Check out Cafe Lotti, housed in the red building just beyond the East Burke post office.  Great coffee, specialty drinks, smoothies, pastries, lunch, and a comfy spot on the couch await you at Lotti's.

Just outside of East Burke Village on the Mountain Road is Auntie Dee Dee's Homemade Vermont Baked Goods.  This little shop is full of delights including specialty sandwiches on homemade croissants, fresh baked breads, cookies, and the best lemon bars around.  Open Friday - Sundays.

For even more goodies for a sweet tooth, venture down Route 114 to Burke Mountain Confectionery.  This tiny yellow shop is loaded with chocolate delights including truffles and peppermint bark.  Definitely, check out the maple chocolate collection including a maple bacon truffle!

If you're out on the trails and hunger strikes, no need to head towards pavement, Market Cafe has a spot at the bottom of Old Webbs to keep you fueled.  Wraps (carnivorous and vegetarian options), beverages, snacks and energy balls are available from these lovely lunch ladies. The snack shack is open Friday - Sunday.

After the ride, ice cream is always well deserved!  Head to the village and stop into the little shop by the river and enjoy a cookie sandwich, smoothie, cone or a dish.  The friendly faces in the window at RubyLee's are ready to scoop you up some cool delights.

For some backyard style golfing, head over to Grandad's Invitational Golf Course in Newark.  This hidden gem offers 9 holes, a walking course (no carts here), mountain views and a casual, kid friendly way to enjoy a day on the greens.  It's only $5 for one round.  Just pop your money in the white mailbox and have fun.

Nothing goes better after a day on the trails or the fairways or anywhere else than a cold beer!  Just on Route 5 in West Burke is a red barn that houses Next Trick Brewing.  Open Thursday - Sunday and offering tastings, crowlers and growlers with brews such as Newark Spring Ale and Willoughby White.
