ORMHOF WELCOMES TOM WHITE
Early Years of Motocross Museum Founder Joins ORMHOF Board of Directors

ORMHOF chairman Mark McMillin welcomes  Early Years of Motocross Museum founder, Tom White, to the Board of Directors.

"He was a unanimous choice," says McMillin. "Tom has a tremendous appreciation for the history of off road, and motorcycles in particular. He brings decades of knowledge and experience to the board."

Tom raced on to the Orange County, California motorcycle scene in the 1970s. He co-founded White Brothers Cycle Specialties in 1975, building the company to one of the largest motorcycle parts distribution companies in the US. White sold the business in 2000, to focus on his son, Brad, who was severely injured in an accident. Tom and his wife, Dani, continue to care for Brad, along with around-the-clock caregivers.

The Early Years of Motocross Museum is a testament to Tom's character. His collection of more than 160 motorcycles is one of the largest displays of its kind in the United States. Tom's career as a racer, business owner and collector was recognized in 2014, when he was inducted into the AMA Hall of Fame.

ORMHOF WELCOMES BEST IN THE DESERT
Race Organization Joins Hall of Fame as Green Flag Partner
ORMHOF welcomes Best in the Desert as a Green Flag partner.  BITD is one of the biggest sanctioning bodies for off-road races in the United States, including the legendary race across Nevada, Vegas to Reno, and the historic Mint 400.

Operations manager Donald Jackson took the reins at BITD earlier this year, when the association's founder, Casey Folks,  passed away suddenly.  Donald had been Casey's 'right hand man' for thirteen years, and has done a great job of continuing the Best in the Desert tradition, with six successful events already behind him in 2017.

Next up for Best in the Desert is Vegas to Reno, August 16-19

Known for his signature "Booyah", and slogan of, ""Life is an Adventure Come live your adventure with Best in the Desert!", Casey Folks was recognized for his passion and dedication to the sport of off-road with induction into the Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame in 2012.

To commemorate his love for the Nevada desert and the memorable events he staged in the Silver State, ORMHOF is planning a special tribute to Casey in the new Hall of Fame display at the Gold Strike in Jean, Nevada.

DUSTY TIMES UPDATE
The Move to Climate Controlled Storage is Complete!

Shelby Hall (right) is dwarfed by the large boxes and file cabinets containing the Dusty Times archives. The large boxes are full of single issue copies of the magazine, dated 1983 to 1996.
a
We are very glad to be done working in the cargo container, and to have the materials transferred to more manageable file boxes and safely moved to climate controlled storage.

Volunteer Tom Heyl (below) holds the last box, and the move is complete!
We finished the move before the summer heat really set in, and feel a great sense of accomplishment, knowing that the Dusty Times materials are safely stored, and not deteriorating in this record summer heat. But our work just just getting started. We are in negotiations with a digital services company to begin scanning every issue of the magazine, and making them available on our website.  To donate to this project, click on the Dusty Times logo below. It will take you to the ORMHOF website, where you can use the "Donate" tab at the top of the page. Thank you!
