"Changing" St. John's

Bring Your Change
Anytime!!!

Presented at the Altar

of the Month
Total to Date: $354.64

Changing St. John's

Save your coins when you empty your pockets at night. Collect them in a can or "mite" box and bring them to St. John's. Bring them anytime, and we'll present these "mites" on the first Sunday of the month. Many small efforts could make a big change in our budget and ministry. (We have can wrappers in the narthex to help us remember.)

Stop & Shop Cards
In Stock!
Available Every Sunday

When you buy shopping/gift cards through St. John's, you are making a contribution that does not cost you financially. It may take a little planning.  Order forms are available in the narthex and can be placed in the lockbox at any time.

To make it easy, here's the form for ordering. Print it and bring it on Sunday.

And if you want more choices, here's a complete list. Sue Bremer could order anything on this list.

Dear Friends:

If you are like me, I look forward to summertime as an opportunity to slow down a little bit, to get out of the ordinary routine, and in my case, a respite of attending one evening meeting or event after another as part of my professional responsibilities, allowing more of an opportunity to reflect. Lenore and I just returned from our annual vacation to Cape Cod, MA. Moments of solitude by Cape Cod Bay allowed me to reflect deeply about all that I am grateful for:
  • For the beautiful hot, sunny, summer weather!
  • For the vast ocean and the rejuvenating rhythm of the waves and tide!
  • For moments of quiet reflection!
  • For our nine month old grandson, Greyson's good health!!
  • For the abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables!
  • For the beauty of flowers in the garden!
  • For the opportunity to help and serve others!
When we think about it, we realize there is so much to be grateful for on a daily basis. I am reminded of the scripture verse from 2 Thessalonians 5:18 - Be joyful always, pray continually. Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for us.

Showing gratitude to God means being thankful, counting our blessings, noting simple pleasures, and acknowledging everything we receive. Gratitude shifts our focus from what our life lacks to the abundance that is already present in our lives. Giving thanks for what God has given us strengthens relationships, improves our health, and reduces our stress. Gratitude is a powerful force that opens the door to God's blessing. Expressing thankfulness helps us remember that God is in control. It reminds us of the bigger picture, that we belong to God and that we are continually blessed!

Thank you, Lord, for all the blessings of this life!
What are you grateful to God for today?
