Fun in the Sun!

Or the car, or the hotel room on a rainy day... It's summer game time!

Clockwise from the back: Colorado-opoly, a local version of the classic game. All the locations are Colorado-centric and the tokens include a hiking boot, a ski and a nugget. For more local fun, we also have Denver-opoly. Age 8+

Tick n' Tater: great barbecue and campground fun--the potato holds a water balloon (100 are provided) and a timer. Toss it from person to person as the timer ticks down. Who will get the cold water shower?! Age--anyone who can catch!

Eye n' Seek: pick a card and turn the wheel to spot the picture. Challenge yourself or race against others! This has resemblances to the ever-popular Spot It and it's also easy for travel with light and flat game pieces. With lots of ways to play, this will also be good in-car entertainment. Ages 6+

Tumble Tree: balance the cards on top of the tree--but obey the instructions carefully or everything will come tumbling down! Nice and compact with lots of rain forest information woven into the game. Ages 6+ (but younger kids could play with a little help)

Dice Stack: this game seems simple--stack the dice in numerical order, but irregular dice and a golden dice make it fun and unpredictable. Ideal for travel, because it packs into its own tiny net bag. Ages 7+

Find It: the classic puzzle game introduces a new version for this summer: Discover America. Journey across the country from home or in the car. Great for fans of Where's Waldo? and perfect for a road trip--find what you're looking at in real life! Ages 6+

Go Go Gelato!: in this logic game you're competing to be the fastest to fill the ice cream cones. Match the scoops to the cones--but don't drop the ice cream! Bright and colorful fun for summer. Ages 6+

And finally, fans of Escape the Room might like to know that we now have a brand new version: Escape the Room: Secret of Dr. Gravely's Retreat.

Bike to Work Day
Bookies at Bike to Work Day

On a beautiful summer morning we set up by Cherry Creek to greet Denver's cyclists on their way to work on Bike to Work Day. We had lots of books (of course) and handed out Bookies Bucks to pep up the cyclists as they continued on their way. This is a wonderful annual event that we are proud to be part of! You'll find more pictures of the day here.
Something different...
July 4--Kadir Nelson
When we saw the brilliant artwork of Kadir Nelson on the cover of   The New Yorker, we decided to put together a tribute to him and his fabulous books and illustrations! It became our 4th of July image and we love it!

Stuck for an idea to entertain young kids this summer? Don't forget that we still have preschool storytime every Tuesday at 10:30 a.m., throughout the summer. And we're happy to read books for older brothers and sisters too! Drop by soon and meet our new storyteller, Shona.
