Meet Richard O'Brien from New York, NY & Karen Robison from Brooklyn, NY, who will be running the 2017 TCS New York City Marathon on November 5th for Special Olympics New York!!!

"I WAS BORN IN THE BRONX, RAISED UP IN PEEKSKILL, NEW YORK, WENT TO SCHOOL OUT ON LONG ISLAND AND AFTER THAT MOVED TO THE CITY. CURRENTLY LIVE ON THE UPPER EAST SIDE, SO I GO RUNNING IN BOTH CENTRAL AND CARL SCHULTZ PARK A LOT. I LOVE TRAVELING AND EXPERIENCING DIFFERENT CULTURES, AND MARATHONS I'VE FOUND ARE A GREAT WAY TO SEE AND EXPERIENCE MANY OF THEM. I'VE WORKED IN MORNING TELEVISION BASICALLY MY ENTIRE PROFESSIONAL LIFE SO MY SLEEP SCHEDULE IS BEYOND MESSED UP. FIRST, AT WPIX 11 AND NOW FOR GOOD MORNING AMERICA. I LOVE ALL SPORTS, AND ANYTHING THAT KEEPS ME ACTIVE, BUT I'M JUST AS HAPPY AT AN ART MUSEUM, BROADWAY PLAY, OR A MOVIE. BASICALLY I JUST LIKE DOING THINGS SINCE I DON'T SLEEP THAT MUCH AND HAVE WAY TOO MUCH ENERGY. I'VE ALWAYS WANTED TO DO SOMETHING FOR SPECIAL OLYMPICS NY, SO I AM EXCITED TO RUN THE 2017 NYC MARATHON ON THIS TEAM!!!!!"

"I can think of no better motivation to run my first marathon, then to run as part of the Special Olympics of New York team. I first volunteered for Special Olympics my freshman year of college and was amazed by the organization. I have always been a person who enjoys the camaraderie of team activities and this is a unique part of what Special Olympics provides to so many. They provide an outlet to be an athlete, a fan, and a friend. Now I am challenging myself to be part of the SONY team and run 26.2 miles for an organization that celebrates the athlete in all of us. It would mean so much to me if you could support me in this endeavor."
