My Journey
Alex Diaz

In the last couple of weeks my life is changing for the best. Most of the things I experienced and the people I've met was the last thing I expected from the Stone Soup Leadership Institute.  Yesterday was a day of cognizance for the things I want to focus on my career. My dreams for my life are achievable. Walking around Boston, seeing the big buildings, the restaurants and stores full of people made me feel like I was in the right place.

I am so grateful to have met Boston Commissioner Will Morales.  He was such a humble and caring person.  He shared so much great perspective, wisdom and knowledge that helped me figure out what I want to do to help my City. Without even acknowledging it Will helped me to realize that the only person who can change something in my life is me. By putting effort into everything I care about and love, I can always remain happy and successful.

We spent a good amount of time talking about how almost every City in America is having the same problems on their streets. We also talked about possible solutions.  Will's The Street Program is now in the many facilities around Boston. He explained  that the workers of this program look for teens who are exposed to violent situations. They then  bring them to a positive place in the facility where they can talk and steer them to a better path for their future.

I personally think little by little that this program is changing and saving lives.  There should be programs like his in every major city in U.S.
