PAA'S DOWNTOWN
MURAL
PROJECT NOW IN PROGRESS

When you pass by Georgia's Farmers Market, you will notice a bright splash of color, thanks to the collaborative effort of Plano Art Association, the
City of Plano  Historic Commission and the Historic Downtown Plano Association.
The Downtown Plano mural project is directed by the Plano Art Association and funded through a grant from the City of Plano Heritage Commission. The other two murals in the works are going through the approval processes and negotiations with downtown property owners.
Thanks to Soheyla Rashidyan, Mike Korman and Gene Dillard who serve on the mural team along with Alex Hargis of HDPA and Joshua King, project administrator. And, thanks to all the PAA members who contributed to the project. You will be able to watch the artists at work on the other murals very soon. Deadline for completion of the three murals is the end of the year.

NEW BRANDING GRAPHICS APPROVED
BY PAA BOARD AND MEMBERSHIP

An array of logo designs and graphic themes were presented to the PAA Board of Directors. Three concepts were voted on by the board for presentation and review by the membership at the July Members meeting. This is the logo that was chosen by a vote of the members present. The design presents an elegant "signature" for the organization combined with a diversity of color-shaped graphics representing the variety of different art dimensions represented by PAA artists.
The logo and related variations will be immediately applied to all of PAA marketing and promotional materials, as well as its business papers and digital signatures.
Other graphic promotional concepts were also presented for consideration
, including "genre-specific art" applications. T-shirt designs were used to demonstrate these applications.

Soon, members will be requested to provide their own creative visualizations of their art genre by rendering "PAA" initials for application to specific promotional activities.

PRESIDENT'S NOTE

HELP!

We have some very specific needs for which PAA needs help right away. Specifically, we need to assemble a team to help plan and execute the upcoming PAA exhibit in conjunction with the Plano International Festival.
The exhibit will be on display September 19 through October 17 at the Courtyard Theater Gallery.

Here's your chance to team up and help with things like theme planning, assisting with call for entries, working with art drop-off and pick-up teams, assisting with promotion, hosting and other exiting activities. We have
scheduled a planning session for Wednesday afternoon, August 2, for those who would like to pitch in .
Additionally, we are actively trying to populate other teams and co mmittees so that the work of PAA can be executed at an effective level. Bec ause PAA is an all-volunteer member organization, it means that members have to do all the work. There is tremendous talent among our membership...not just in art but in other skills that the organization needs. We will be sending out an invitation to all the members shortly to fill very important roles.

MISSION STATEMENT: The Plano Art Association is dedicated to encouraging the visual arts development of the membership, and inspiring awareness of the visual arts by sharing the joy, passion and beauty within and beyond our Plano community.

PAA is sponsored in part with a grant by the City of Plano.
