County Urges Residents: Keep Plastic Bags Out Of Curbside Recycling Containers
Click the above image to view a video on Plastic Bag Recycling.
The Morris County Municipal Utilities Authority (MUA) is urging county residents to keep all types of plastic bags out of the recycling content they put at the curb for recycling collection, stressing that plastic bags are a major hindrance to recycling operations.

Plastic bags are one of the worst contaminants in the recycling process, on a list of unwanted materials that also include scrap metal, wires, hazardous waste, chemicals, diapers, syringes, needles, propane tanks and hangers.  None of these items should be included with curbside recyclables since they can hurt employees and disable machinery.

For more information about single-stream recycling, visit the Morris County Municipal Utilities Authority's website at  www.MCMUA.com .

Roxbury Makes Ledgewood Mall Renovators Stretch Route 10 Turning Lane
Taking a better-safe-than-sorry approach, township officials this week pushed the developers renovating Ledgewood Mall to build a left-turn lane into the project significantly longer than what engineers initially deemed sufficient. The lane will allow westbound motorists to turn onto Marie Louise Avenue and into the new shopping center, expected to open in 2019. In pushing to have the lane extended to about 550 feet long, Roxbury officials said they want to be sure holiday traffic headed for the shopping center doesn't end up blocking the state highway's left lane. Click here to read more about this road project from Tap Into Roxbury.

Roxbury Ready to Repair Shippenport's Rough Ramps
The Roxbury Mayor and Council, on Tuesday, introduced an ordinance that would appropriate $105,000 for the so-called "Shippenport Road Ramps Preservation Project." That money, to come from a state grant, will be combined with about $40,000 in township funds for the pavement repair, officials said. Click here to read more about those road improvements from Tap Into Roxbury.
