Marathon Runner Raised $4,550 for Dyslexia Education
A Runner's Quest for Literacy
Margarita Hornung has always been passionate about reading, so when she heard the International Dyslexia Association (IDA) Pennsylvania was looking for runners to raise funds and awareness she didn't hesitate. "I was at the new Providence Charter School learning about the best ways to teach children with dyslexia when I heard about TeamQuest," says Margarita. "I am not a strong runner, but I joined for my son, Noah, who is a star in our world. I also owe it to all the amazing and courageous kids who go to school every day and work harder than anyone else to learn to read. My journey is just beginning, but I will never stop doing all that I can to help students get the resources they need so that they can enjoy reading and all the knowledge that comes with it."
Home to the famous Bourbon Street, the French Quarter of New Orleans is TeamQuest's absolute must-see of the week. Located along the banks of the Mississippi River, this neighborhood has beautiful architecture, delicious food, and great entertainment. One of the many highlights is Jackson Square, home to the St. Louis Cathedral, the oldest continually used cathedral in the United States.
Treat your feet! One of the most important things to consider as a runner is your running shoes. Your feet take the majority of impact when running and having the correct running shoes can make a difference, especially for distances like 13.1 and 26.2 miles.
