Highlight of the Week

Friday's assembly summed up our excitement in ushering in the 2017-18 school year. Dr. Discher spoke to the definition of integrity and the value it brings to us as individuals and as a school community. Coach Thomas set the standard of excellence in sportsmanship and demonstrated the valu of school spirit. Ms. Brown introduced our student mentors and welcomed our faculty leaders to rally their houses.

More about our house system in next week's newsletter.

Please join Cicero Prep in welcoming:

Mr. Hardin came to Great Hearts with experience teaching high school philosophy and theology for three years in Madison, Wisconsin. He likes Arizona and enjoys living in the valley with his wife and two young sons. This year he will be teaching 7th grade Literature and Composition and 7 th grade Ancient History. His hobbies are reading and playing guitar, and his favorite book is the "Confessions" of St. Augustine. Cicero's Student Mentor Program

The Mentor Program is the heart of student leadership at Cicero Preparatory Academy. Mentors are carefully-selected high school students who are here to serve the rest of the school. Their roles are as follows: mentor

1. To set an example and practice servant  leadership.
2.   To assist new students in making the transition to Cicero Preparatory Academy and in developing skills for academic success.
3.   To serve the school community during the school day and during after-school events/service projects.
4.   To participate in the brand-new house system, which was launched this week!

Our 30 mentors are here especially for your sixth graders. During New Student Orientation, mentors accompanied the sixth graders to their homerooms and helped welcome them to the school. Each sixth grader has been paired with a mentor, and will be meeting with him or her every Wednesday in the gym during Semester 1 to discuss study skills, organization, and acclimating to Cicero Prep. If you have any questions or suggestions about how we can better serve you, please contact the Mentor Coordinator, Ms. Betsy Brown, at [email protected].
