Roots Hold Me Close
Service Leaders:  Sky Williams
Sunday, July 9 at 10:30 AM
Sky Williams, aka Celeste Allen, grew up here at UUCP. Next fall they will begin studying at Starr King School for the Ministry, a UU school for ministers. Before leaving, they want to honor this congregation and everyone who taught them about being a Unitarian Universalist.
Share the Plate with the Craig Block Memorial Scholarship Fund at de Benneville Pines
Sunday, July 9 at 10:30 AM
Craig Block was a beloved advisor and mentor for the UU senior high youth community for over a decade, who built his life around being able to give as much of himself as he could. He brought his true and unique self to every interaction, always making sure you knew that he cared and had time for you. We will always remember Craig as someone who put the lives and futures of young people before his own, and inspired others to do the same. All funds collected from Share the Plate will be used to send youth from around the PSWD to camps at de Benneville Pines.

Letting Go of Neo-Liberalism: Religious Lessons from Global Politics
Service Leader: Emrys Staton
Sunday, July 16, 10:30 AM
As the theology of UU-ism has often tracked progressive politics in the US, what does the shift of global liberal values mean for religious liberal values? (based on a meme/tweet: "'Diversity and inclusion' is a neo-liberal value. I'm here for de-colonization and reparations").
Book Group
Sunday, July 16, at 9:00 AM in Annex B
The Book Group engages in informal discussions of a variety of books. We typically discuss recent nonfiction books on topics such as science, religion, sociology, history, current events, environmental issues and justice, but we don't exclude fiction. Books we read are proposed by the members and voted on by the group. We typically spend 4 to 8 weeks on a book, discussing portions as we read. For more information, contact Mike Peterson at 602-943-9543, or come to one of our Sunday meetings.

On the second Thursday, we will meet in Annex B in a traditional Small Group format, engaging in deep discussions led by Jonny Lifshitz, following the Small Group packet on the monthly congregational theme. This time set aside for adult discussions feels amazing, as the littles will be cared for at Chalice Kids, free programming in room 15 provided by the children's ministry. We welcome all members and friends/participants of UUCP, who are in a parenting role to little ones, to join our village.
