Good day friends!  Happy July!  It's crazy to think the kids have been out of school for a month, the July 4th Holiday is long gone, and school will be starting back up in less than a month!

While it's been a busy summer so far for many of you, we have been incredibly blessed by your presence and participation in worship and events, such as VBS, the VBS cook-out, and the youth mission retreat!

As we have mentioned in worship, the Staff has been busy planning for the upcoming year; and we can assure you the calendar is PACKED!  We look forward to sharing with you in the August 13th Administration Council Meeting, immediately after worship service, all we have planned.  But, until then be sure to mark your calendars for the following dates:

  • July 30th:  We will start collecting shoes for Soles4Souls
  • August 1st:  First day of school pictures on the front steps at 7 AM
  • August 6th:  Communion Sunday at 11 AM
  • August 9th:  Wednesday Night Suppers Resume at 5:30 PM

We hope this July is filled with blessings for you and may we all continue to be a light of peace and love to others as we connect, explore, and make an impact with each of you and the community!  Blessings friends!

Screenagers Movie Night
Sunday, August 27th!
Are you watching kids scroll through life, with their rapid-fire thumbs and a six-second attention span? Physician and filmmaker Delaney Ruston saw that with her own kids and learned that the average kid spends 6.5 hours a day looking at screens. She wondered about the impact of all this time and about the friction occurring in homes and schools around negotiating screen time-friction she knew all too well.

In SCREENAGERS, as with her award-winning documentaries on mental health, Delaney takes a deeply personal approach as she probes into the vulnerable corners of family life, including her own, to explore struggles over social media, video games, academics and internet addiction. Through poignant, and unexpectedly funny stories, along with surprising insights from authors, psychologists, and brain scientists, SCREENAGERS reveals how tech time impacts kids' development and offers solutions on how adults can empower kids to best navigate the digital world and find balance.

We look forward to this educational evening, which will be in partnership with the Weekday Children's Ministry (WCM).  For more information, please contact Ashley Brookins.

Soles4Souls Event Coming Soon!

Your old shoes can still provide miles of smiles for someone who doesn't need a Fitbit to indicate they've walked enough each day. This is the 7 th year Haygood has collected new and used shoes for Soles4Souls, which distributes new shoes to those in need in the US and abroad and recycles used shoes thru micro-enterprises in developing countries.  Last year we collected over 1000 shoes, let's see if we can beat that this year!

You can bring your shoes to Haygood starting  July 30 th   or simply leave them on the lawn, once school starts on  August 1 st . It's a neighborhood event! And we have our lawn back this year to catch the attention of our neighbors. So, dig deep in your closet corners and find those shoes you'll never use. They'll help someone whose way is probably a little
less paved than yours.
Mark these Dates:
  • from July 30th - Put shoes in the bins inside Haygood's entries.
  • from Aug. 1st - Leave shoes on our Lawn.
  • Aug. 9th, 6:30 p.m., after our first Wednesday Night Supper since May - Help us pair, sort and bag shoes for delivery to the Soles4Souls warehouse in Alabama.

Please place them in the collection bins in the Gym Lobby.  Let's help make sure the pantry is full throughout the summer!  Thanks your support!
