FREE summer movies are plentiful around town in August. Choose from a variety of venues and movies:
The Secret Life of Pets will be shown in the morning and the evening on August 8 at The State Theatre - New Jersey.
Rutgers Gardens presents "View and Brew" on August 10, an evening showing of Dirty Dancing in the Roy DeBoer Evergreen Garden and beer from Riverhorse Brewery available for purchase.
The Yard @College Avenue continues its Summer Movie Series throughout August including: Cars on August 6; Mean Girls on August 9; Monsters Inc. on August 13; Grease on August 16; Toy Story on August 20; Remember the Titans on August 23; Finding Dory on August 27, and Dirty Dancing on August 30.

New wave fans rejoice! The
Retro Futura Tour is coming to New Brunswick. Catch them at
State Theatre New Jersey on August 9. Other State Theatre New Jersey performances this month include Lyle Lovett and His Large Band on August 10 and Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals on August 25.
Hub City Sounds presents
two terrific festivals this month - the 2nd annual
Indo-American Festival on August 12 and the 2nd annual

WorkingNation and the John J. Heldrich Center for Workforce Development at Rutgers University, will hold a town-hall style meeting at the Mastrobuono Theater on August 8. The meeting will focus on "
Re-skilling the Mid-career Workforce," which will be moderated by PBS NewHour anchor and correspondent Hari Steenivasan.
Above Art Studios present its
Frame of Mind exhibition, on view through August 25, and a solo exhibition on the Art of Ikenna Chineme on August 26.
Alfa Art Gallery presents

ummer Collective, an exhibition highlighting emerging and well-established artists who excel in their work
manipulating watercolor and mixed media. The exhibition will be on display through August 12.
Zimmerli Art Museum is closed to the public during the month of August, but you can kick off the new school year on September 5 with
Art After Hours: First Tuesdays.

Observe the night sky through a 20-inch optical telescope at the
Robert A. Schommer Astronomical Observatory in New Brunswick on the second and fourth Thursdays of every month, weather permitting. This month's dates are August 10, 17, and 24.
Join
Due Mari as the restaurant's staff packs their bags and heads outside for a summer series of classes in partnership with Rutgers Gardens. Each class will feature the
freshest fruits, vegetables, and herbs picked straight from the on-site student farm. Next class will be held on August 23.

The New Brunswick Free Public Library will continue its free
English for Beginners class designed specifically for beginning adult English language learners. It will be held Monday evenings, August 7 to September 18.
Above Art Studios presents "
Paint & Sip Thursdays," which will take place every Thursday in New Brunswick. Event is BYOB, and the venue will supply the
canvas or wine glass, paint and brushes.
The
New Brunswick Free Public Library is offering a
summer reading program on how shrinking habitat and environmental conditions are affecting the birds, insects, and plants that we rely on. Catch
