The young adult group will be gathering after the 5pm service July 9th at 6:15 pm at Frankly Pizza-- 104170 Armory Ave. Kensington, MD . Please join us! The Young Adult Group at Christ Church Kensington is a group of 20 and 30 somethings that gather the second Sunday of each month for food and fellowship. This Week
Give Choir a Try this Summer!
Our summer choir begins with a rehearsal at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday mornings in the choir room, followed by the 10:00 a.m. Eucharist. All are most welcome to sing in the summer choir -- in fact, this is a wonderful time to "try out" the choir without the commitment of a mid-week rehearsal. Vacation Bible School!
On Monday,
we welcome children and adult volunteers for Vacation Bible School! Our theme, God's Glorious Garden, is based on Episcopal Relief and Development's (ERD) Abundant Life Garden Project-water, seeds, soil, animals, and harvest. Please remember the children and volunteers in your prayers this week!

Mark your Calendars for an Organ Recital!
On Friday evening, September 1 at 7:30pm (the beginning of the Labor Day weekend) Teddy Guerrant will play an organ recital entitled "A Gallic Sampler: French Organ Music Across Four Centuries" including works by de Grigny, Balbastre, Lefebure-Wely, Franck, Saint-Saens, Widor, Vierne, Mulet, Dupre, Langlais, and Durufle. The French theme will continue into the light reception following with petits fours and champagne, so put this on your calendars now as a fun and festive way to kick off the end-of-the-summer holiday weekend!
Movie, Dessert, and Interfaith Discussion:
On 30 July 2017 at 6:30 p.m. The Interfaith Circle will be hosting a showing of the movie "The Saint and the Sultan."(59 minutes) We will meet in the Camillus Room of St. Camillus Church, 1500 St. Camillus Drive, Silver Spring, MD 20903, (just off New Hampshire Avenue inside the beltway). The movie is based on the visit of St. Francis of Assisi to the Sultan of Egypt. For further information, please contract Charlie Briggs ([email protected]).

The voice of my beloved! Look, he comes, leaping upon the mountains, bounding over the hills. My beloved is like a gazelle or a young stag. Look, there he stands behind our wall, gazing in at the windows, looking through the lattice. My beloved speaks and says to me: "Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away; for now the winter is past, the rain is over and gone. The flowers appear on the earth; the time of singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land. The fig tree puts forth its figs, and the vines are in blossom; they give forth fragrance. Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away."

Romans 7:15-25a
I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate. Now if I do what I do not want, I agree that the law is good. But in fact it is no longer I that do it, but sin that dwells within me. For I know that nothing good dwells within me, that is, in my flesh. I can will what is right, but I cannot do it. For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I do. Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I that do it, but sin that dwells within me.
So I find it to be a law that when I want to do what is good, evil lies close at hand. For I delight in the law of God in my inmost self, but I see in my members another law at war with the law of my mind, making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members. Wretched man that I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!
Matthew 11:16-19, 25-30
Jesus said to the crowd, "To what will I compare this generation? It is like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling to one another, 'We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we wailed, and you did not mourn.'
For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, 'He has a demon'; the Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, 'Look, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!' Yet wisdom is vindicated by her deeds."
At that time Jesus said, "I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and the intelligent and have revealed them to infants; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. All things have been handed over to me by my Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.
