Eid-ul-Adha Mubarak!
A camp resident receiving meat at last year's Eid-ul-Adha

We at OBAT are already preparing to celebrate another Eid! With this preparation, comes our obligation to carry out sacrifice or qurbani.   Despite the accompanying administrative and operational expenses, OBAT has been carrying out qurbani in the camps since more than a decade. Since crippling poverty prevents camp residents from having the luxury of eating meat, we find this to be an imperative project as through it, the camp residents get the opportunity to enjoy eating meat, a rare occasion for them.

With your help in 2016, the Qurbani program for Eid-ul-Adha had the following impact:
·    Qurbani was held in ten cities: Dhaka, Chittagong, Khulna, Chandpur, Mymensingh, Gaibandha, Rangpur, Narayanganj, Syedpur and Bogra
·    83 cows and 183 goats were sacrificed
·    11,145 families received the qurbani meat

Click here for this year's qurbani information and requests or email us at [email protected] to let us know your qurbani needs.

May your sacrifice be accepted and many blessings come your way as you touch the camp residents' lives with your faith and generosity.

Myriad developments in Dhaka

  • A three day training and assessment was carried out on the usage of "Tangerine," an app that will be used as the next step and learning tool in the partnership with TTWF (Teach the World Foundation). OBAT Helpers teamed up with Teach the World Foundation (TTWF) in April to bring digital learning to underprivileged children in the camps. Eighty students were selected from OBAT's preschool and working children programs for the alpha phase of this project which will test the power of digital learning. The training was carried out for members of the Think Tank who will play a role in implementing its usage.
  • Fire extinguishers were placed at the Dhaka office as a preventative measure against incidents caused by fire and as a measure of protection for the staff and students.
  • Financial support was provided to three girls for their marriage ceremonies. These girls are orphans and have been raised by other family members. OBAT's family assistance program strives to provide support for the fulfillment of such needs among the camp residents.
