From the Superintendent's Desk

Dear Wilmington Staff, Students, and Families,

I am honored to serve the Wilmington City School district as your Superintendent.  Wilmington is a special place for me. I believe that Wilmington is about honoring traditions, building community and educating for tomorrow. I have enjoyed my time serving Wilmington as a Middle School teacher,  Middle School principal and High School principal.  Wilmington has proven to be a great place to work and learn.

Wilmington is about honoring traditions.  Our district values the customs and beliefs that are passed along from generation to generation. We hold sacred the traditions that continue to be a positive source of pride for WCS.  These traditions are passed along by family members, mentors, colleagues, peers, friends, coaches and our neighbors.  They are the symbols of our heritage and represent loyalty.  The school community is about honoring strong traditions while embracing innovation.

The community is the backbone of every great school.  I am proud to work and live in Wilmington. It is important that we all stay united in providing a quality education in a caring environment for every child. Wilmington is about respecting the role in sharing the responsibility of building a vibrant community.

Educating every child so that they are prepared for a bright future is our highest  priority.  The daily decisions we make for our schools will be focused on what is best for our students.  Our work is about providing experiences for our students that will sharpen their minds to be creative thinkers and problem solvers.  Each child holds endless possibilities to what they are able to accomplish.  Wilmington City Schools is dedicated to the education of our students today to provide them the skills they need for tomorrow.

I am eager and excited to continue to support the students, staff, and parents of the Wilmington City School district.  I am committed to honoring traditions, building community and educating for tomorrow.

Sincerely,
Mrs. McCarty-Stewart
Superintendent Wilmington City Schools

Seamless Summer Lunch Program

For the 4th year Sodexo and Wilmington City Schools are offering a free lunch to ALL kids 18 years and younger in the Wilmington area.

So whether the kids are on campus for summer school, participating in an event at school, or they just want to come in from the heat and catch up with their friends, lunch is on us!

Children don't have to be enrolled in WCS, nor the free lunch program to participate.  Just come and bring an appetite and visit with friends! Adult meals can be purchased for $3.00.

Lunch dates: Monday through Friday through August 11th
Times:  11am to 1pm, meals must be consumed on site

We could use your help in spreading the word.  There are still too many kids in our community who are hungry and this may be the only hot meal they get that day.
