Specialized Memory Care Now Open in Yorba Linda
We are thrilled to announce the opening of ActivCare at Yorba Linda, a senior living community that specializes in memory care. The community offers three levels of care to accommodate all stages of Alzheimer's and related dementias. The community is purpose-built for memory care, caregivers are specially trained and the activity program engages residents all day, every day.

ActivCare at Yorba Linda Opens

On July 20, we celebrated the grand opening of the newest ActivCare community, ActivCare at Yorba Linda, with a ribbon cutting. The new memory care community, which will be home to 60 residents, will offer specialty care and engaging activities in a home-like environment.

We invite you to come for a tour and see the many community features designed specifically for those with memory loss: a warm, welcoming, home-like environment; beautifully landscaped courtyards with walking paths; colorful murals and corresponding themed corridors for easy way-finding; skylights and large windows that provide plenty of natural light and more.

Contact Cristina at (714) 312-3797 to schedule a tour of the community, Monday through Saturday, 9 am to 5 pm.

Helping Others Understand the Disease

Explaining that your loved one has Alzheimer's can be challenging for a family caregiver. Sharing the news with family, friends or colleagues is not easy, but garnering understanding and support is. Sometimes it is important to prepare others for behaviors as a result of the disease or to express common feelings experienced by family caregivers. What is the best way to gain understanding?

The National Institute of Aging has prepared a few pointers to assist in communicating the impact of Alzheimer's disease on your life and the life of your loved one. From sharing the news to communication tips, to preparing for when your loved is in public, these helpful suggestions can ease feelings of uneasiness.

Helping Kids Understand

Sharing the news that a grandparent has dementia requires a simple and straight forward approach. Comforting kids and helping them accept feelings can ease their concerns. In addition, there are some great resources for broaching the topic. Click below to learn more.

Did You Know...?

The benefits of helping others boomerangs. Here are six ways doing good for others can help you.

Doing Good Decreases Stress - A study found that adults who volunteered about four hours a week were 40% less likely to develop hypertension later.

Doing Good Increases Life-Expectancy - Researchers found a link between giving, unselfishness and a lower risk of early death.

Doing Good Makes Us Feel Better - Helper's high is the "rush" one feels after performing a good deed.

Doing Good Promotes Mental Health - Along with improved well-being and life satisfaction, volunteering is also linked to decreased depression.

Doing Good Leads To Happiness - When we give of ourselves, everything from life satisfaction to self-realization and physical health is significantly improved.

Doing Good Will Motivate You To Do Good Again - Thinking about times you've helped others will make you want to help others again.

So get out there and perform a random act of kindness or help your fellow human being. It's good for you!
