Newfield Construction is celebrating 35 Years with The Construction Institute!

Loomis Chaffee School, Campus Center and Dining Hall - Windsor

C onstruction has begun at the Campus Center and Dining Hall at Loomis Chaffee School in Windsor, CT. The 52,000 square foot project includes renovations and additions to the existing building which is comprised of a 1913 two-story dining hall and a 1969 one-story addition. Improvements will include a new institutional kitchen, a food-court style servery and two new dining rooms; the historic dining hall will be renovated to accommodate the student lounge.

State of Connecticut, Department of Transportation, Maintenance of Way Building - New Haven

The construction of the new Maintenance of Way Building for the State of Connecticut, Department of Transportation in New Haven, CT is complete. The new 28,000 square foot building has two main functions. One of those functions being that the building will house offices, supervisor quarters, locker rooms, kitchen and vending areas and conference areas.  The building's other purpose is to house crew shops for carpentry, plumbing, electrical, signage, radios, as well as materials storage.  The project also includes parking for over 260 vehicles as well as creation of an off-site outdoor materials storage area.  One of the main construction challenges was relocating an existing through street from the new parking lot to the middle of the project site.  The critical interface with the utility companies and the coordination with other contractors, who were constructing other buildings on adjacent parcels, in the rail yard were key factors in the success of the project.

Weaver High School - Hartford

Weaver High School is moving forward! Phase 1 of demolition and abatement is complete while bids for Phase 2 construction are being received now. The renovated high school will create a space for grades 9-12 in three, themed programs: High School, Inc., Journalism and Media Academy, and R.J. Kinsella Magnet School of Performing Arts. Built in 1974, the 370,000-square-foot high school was initially designed for 2,000 students. The renovated facility will now house a student body of 900.
