There is a lot we don't know about eternity. But one thing is for sure - there will be a lot of cool surprises. I think one of those surprises will be how our lives have made a difference, and we didn't even know it. For example, on my way to church
on Sunday, I pray for the people I see jogging, or walking the dog, or riding a bike. On any given
Sunday, there might be as many as twenty people like that between my house and the church. When I see them, I pray that they will know Jesus (if they don't already) and that they will be in a faith community (if they aren't already). I also pray for the neighborhoods I drive through on the way to church. Chances are, I will never know any of those people or whether my prayer made any difference...at least not in this life. But who knows. When I reach eternity, there might be a person or two (or more) who are there, in part, because of my prayer. How cool would it be to encounter those people! Will that actually happen? Who knows. But it is fun to consider. You might want to join me in praying for the strangers you see
on Sunday. Who knows, you might change a life. And, your eternity might be more fun.

Love in Action
Would you let these dangerous looking guys in your yard and house? Teresa Lloyd, who helps run our Grace Kids Ministry, did. As a single mom, her yard had gotten a little out of control and she asked Dave Ruben, our Men's Ministry Coordinator, for help. Together these fellows whipped that yard into shape. Loving one another is more than a feeling. It involves both heart and sweat equity. But as everyone involved that day experienced, it is a great feeling.

Krause Golf Tournament
Here are three of our all-stars in the recent Krause Children's Center golf tournament. They are standing behind the sign on the hole we sponsored. In all, we had twelve players representing Grace Anglican Community. Although none of our teams placed high in the scoring, a good time was had by all. Most importantly, Grace Anglican Community won the competition for team fund raising by collecting $10,025. This is the fourth year in a row we ranked first. Krause makes a big difference in the lives of adolescent girls who have been neglected and abused. We are proud to partner with them in this important work. Thank you for your support.

Cross Wall Story
If you haven't looked at the cross wall recently, it continues to grow and develop. Every family or individual is invited to bring a cross for the wall, and each new addition enhances the beauty and interest of the wall. Crosses for the wall should be given to Karen Henson. Many of the crosses have a special story behind them and, over time, we hope to share these stories for everyone to enjoy. This month's cross was given by Father Bill Barr. It was made by a former student and presented to him at his ordination. Thanks to Bill for sharing this special gift with our church family.

Soul in the City
Who could possibly eat over 1000 cookies? Youth, that's who. More precisely, about 60 junior high and high school kids serving Christ at our annual diocesan mission trip, Soul in the City. And who could possibly bake 1000 cookies? Our very own Daughters of the Holy Cross, of course (along with a couple of male chefs). Here, Daughters Martha Butler, Diane Covert, and Linda Lundquist present the cookies to Youth Minister, Henry Covert. And who says serving others isn't fun? Below are some fashionistas from Soul in the City (including Emily Shafer on the left and Elizabeth Ruben on the right) showing off their cool outfits at the Houston Food Bank.

Our New Church Phone Number
We now have an official church phone that will allow you to reach any of our staff by calling a single number. Like other systems, your call will be directed to the right person by simply pressing the appropriate key on your phone. That should be easier than having a bunch of phone numbers to remember or program into your phone. The new church phone number is

Our New Mailing Address
Little by little, details of our move are being completed. After a lot of prodding, the Post Office has finally provided us with a mail box at our new location. That means that church mail should be sent to our new address:

. Of course, personal mail can still be sent to me or anyone else on staff at their home address.

Help Keep Our Worship Space Clean
Most churches don't allow food or drink in their worship area. In order to help keep our fabric chairs clean, we will serve coffee and water before and after the service. Lemonade will be served only after the service. If we notice stains appearing on the chairs, we will have to offer water only before the service.
Also, when you leave, please check the space around you. Pick up your coffee cups, worship bulletin, and any other items you see. Our custodian comes once a week (on Saturday). Thank you for helping keep our new space clean and neat.

Women's Summer Book Club Discussion and Dinner - July 27
Join us for our 4th annual Summer Book Club Discussion and Dinner. This year's book is "The Heart Mender: A Story of Second Chances" by Andy Andrews, a story of love, war, friendship, and forgiveness. Sign up at the back table to bring something for dinner. My Favorite Things - August 26
Julie Andrews liked raindrops on roses and whiskers on kitten...but what is your favorite thing? For this event, you will be asked to bring either a sweet or savory dish to share and three items of your favorite thing, whether it's a favorite lotion, favorite spice, favorite book, etc. We will exchange our favorite thing with three other women, so each of you will go home with three different items. We ask that you keep the cost to a maximum of $15 total. Save the date. More details soon.

Women of Faith's "Sisters - Celebrating the Art of Friendship" - September 9
Get together with a group of your girlfriends for an experience filled with laughter, storytelling and wisdom hosted by Patsy Clairmont, Anita Renfroe and Jan Silvious. These three women have been friends for years, through good times and bad. It's a morning guaranteed to be filled with both laughter and tears. The event will be on Saturday, September 9 at Champion Forest Baptist Church (15555 Stuebner Airline Rd, Houston, TX 77069). Doors open at 9:00 a.m., so you may want to consider leaving the Katy area around 8:15 a.m. If you are interested in carpooling, make sure you indicate that on the sign-up sheet. Adult Forum Resumes September 10 - "Reading the Bible for all its Worth"
Wisdom, knowledge, joy. These are just three of the blessings of walking with the Spirit. Walking with the Spirit is the overarching theme of our Adult Forum for 2017-2018. Each course will equip you in some way for your journey. This year's offerings include How to Read the Bible for All Its Worth, Prophets and Prophecy, and How to be in Step with the Spirit and Prayer. Adult Forum resumes Sunday, September 10, at 9:30 a.m. in the Living Room (just to the left of the foyer). Join us as we learn how to walk in closer communion with God the Holy Spirit.

Newcomer Breakfast and Orientation
What is an Anglican? What is a Deacon? How do I participate in a ministry? These and other questions will be answered at a Newcomer Breakfast and Orientation. This two-part event on August 20 and August 27
will help newcomers meet other newcomers and provide everything you need to feel more a part of Grace Anglican Community. We will even explain why we call ourselves community rather than church. Breakfast will be served from 8:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. The information sessions will be from 9:00 a.m. - 10:15 a.m. Childcare will be available. A sign-up sheet will be available soon. Alpha is Coming! Alpha is Coming!
Do you like food? Do you like conversation? Would you like to understand more about following Jesus? Then Alpha is for you. And here is some exciting news - Alpha is coming to Grace Anglican beginning Sunday, September 10. Alpha will be held after church (12:15 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.). It is an open, informal, honest space to explore and discuss life's big questions together. BBQ and Battle of the Sexes - September 30
The women of Grace Anglican have challenged the men to an epic Battle of the Sexes. This survival of the fittest event will be on Saturday, September 30 beginning at 5:30 p.m. We will begin with BBQ and then, let the contest begin. The women will test their knowledge against that of the men's. A telling test of who knows more about the other - the team that prevails earns the ultimate bragging rights for having settled the question of which is the superior sex. Music Notes - Cornerstone
The stone the builders rejected
has become the cornerstone;
Psalm 118:22
...let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead - by him this man is standing before you well. This Jesus is the stone that was rejected by you, the builders, which has become the cornerstone. And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.
Acts 4:10-12
Greetings Brothers and Sisters in Christ!
The song "Cornerstone" is one that has recently been introduced into our congregation. It contains a powerful message that through even the most turbulent of times, we may place our faith and trust in the firm foundation that is Jesus Christ. Scripture reveals to us that Jesus is the cornerstone. The psalmist foretold "the stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone." This alluded to the rejection, crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus. The excerpt from Acts develops this further, "This Jesus is the stone that was rejected by you, the builders, which has become the cornerstone. And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved." Jesus is the key to our deliverance from sin. He is the cornerstone and foundation of our faith.Thro
ugh him we are reconciled and welcomed into a relationship with God.
