Adding a Kindred Spirit

We at American Values Investments are perpetually in search of corporations that consistently exude strong cultural values and ideals. It just so happens that our latest positive strike was CenterState Banks, Inc. ( CSFL), a Tampa-area-headquartered community banking operation.

As its management has noted, "We believe that the most telling core value at CenterState Bank is faith and family." And beyond that, the organization promises that, "We will exceed our clients' expectations by anticipating their needs and responding with a sense of urgency."

It's even better when two values-centric companies come together in whatever manner. For that very reason, we were ecstatic to learn just last week that CenterState has added David G. Salyers, head of brand activation at qualitatively-renowned Chik-fil-A, to its board of directors. Salyers has spent his entire 36-year career with Chick-fil-A, and is the author of " Remarkable!" a book about company culture.

As the bank's CEO John Corbett said in announcing Salyers' addition, "We have studied Chick-fil-A's culture for a long time, and believe David will enhance our board as we continue to grow..."
