On June 27th Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced that he was postponing the vote on the Senate's version of the healthcare bill, The Better Care Reconciliation Act of 2017, until after the Senate's July 4th recess.
This postponement is a temporary victory and a direct result of the activism of Jewish Federations and our allies that has resulted in Senator McConnell not being able to pull together a majority of the Senate in favor of the legislation.

Megan, Director of Marketing & Communications.
- Jewish Vocational Services of Boston will offer vocational English-language lessons to approximately 2,000 immigrants and refugees in the area. Funds exceeding $12 million, from investors, are making this possible. Learn more about what this means for JVS, investors and the community in the article published by the Boston Globe.
- On June 17th, JEVS Human Services and Supports Your Way participated in our Philadelphia's Disability Pride March (and related events). Clients, consumers, participants and staff gathered to raise awareness, show solidarity, and - in many cases - advocate for themselves and others with disabilities. The JEVS/SYW contingent was 50-strong, easily the largest single contingent in the march, and both organizations staffed tables at the festival held after the march, at Dilworth Plaza. - Jewish Family & Community Services of East Bay is dismayed at the Supreme Court's decision on June 26th to allow major components of the president's anti-refugee Executive Order to go into effect. "This will do nothing to improve the security of our country; it will only increase people's suffering." Read JFCS's Statement on SCOTUS Action here.
- Paul Castro, CEO of Jewish Family Services of Los Angeles' op-ed addresses the shortcomings of the current Senate Health proposal and the potential impact on JFS clients. Read the entire article in the Jewish Journal.
