We have received notice that the federal grant that currently funds Collective STEP For Youth
will end two years early, with all grantees receiving funding this program year (July 2017-June 2018) but no funding past the end of this year. Collective STEP is now revising plans to continue providing capacity-building services in the adolescent wellbeing realm during the final year and beyond the grant period.

Given modifications to the grant period, Chair Tyre Davis presented a proposal from the Steering Committee on a new direction for Work Groups (WGs). The coalition supported moving forward with two WGs that focus on 1) sustaining the coalition and 2) building an online hub of resources. This dual focus aligns with the coalition vision: that youth will have information and resources needed to gain important life skills and successfully transition into adulthood. We know there's much we can accomplish together this year and beyond!

THE STORIES WITH STAYING POWER CONFERENCE WAS A SUCCESS!
On June 22, 2017, Collective STEP for Youth, Touchstone Health Services, and Child & Family Resources hosted Stories with Staying Power at the Desert Willow Conference Center in Phoenix, Arizona. Over fifty partners and coalition members attended and were provided an opportunity to examine how stories and messages shape communities, inspire action, and make a positive impact on the lives of adolescents. The day included a key note speaker, general sessions on storytelling, a gallery walk/poster presentation, partner success stories, nine local exhibitors, a selfie station, and a CONGA dance celebration!

Collective STEP for Youth's Fourth Annual Adolescent Summit
Connecting Hope
Due to federal changes in the level of funding and program timeline, the Collective STEP for Youth Fourth Annual Summit originally scheduled for October 25, 2017 will be rescheduled for early 2018.
Collective STEP for Youth's Annual Adolescent Summits have been some of the most well attended conferences in Maricopa County that focus on teen pregnancy prevention and adolescent wellbeing. Each year, more than 200 youth-serving professionals gather to learn new information, network, share ideas, and discuss successes and challenges.
The 2018 event will be packed with innovative sessions, interactive presentations, and engaging speakers. Please keep an eye out for more detailed information in our next newsletter.

August is National Immunization Awareness Month. Celebrate the benefits and importance of vaccination for people of all ages. A communication
toolkit has been developed to help us communicate the importance of immunizations.
The Office of Adolescent Health (OAH) has a
resource center that supports the work of teen pregnancy prevention practitioners and those who work with expectant and parenting youth and families.
OAH has resources on the
social determinants of health that help program providers assess the underlying causes of health issues, have positive interactions with program participants, and promote health equity in diverse communities.
