Church Council Approves New Committee Structure
The August 10 Church Council approved a new board and committee structure for our church, starting in 2018. The new structure is in compliance with the United Methodist Book of Discipline.
It also gives more emphasis in our church to growth, children's ministries, care of members, and stewardship.

Church Directory
We would like to clarify that the church directory is being produced through our new Power Church program. They will be available to our church members with limited information. Once the directories are printed, we will make them available. It is NOT too late to send in a picture or have one taken by our hospitality team members. You may send pictures (one per family please) to [email protected] or call the office, 235-5676, if you have questions.
Closer to the end of the year, we may do a professional directory.

"First Things First" Project
Our call for revitalizing our congregation starts with deepening our own faith and relationship to God.
Consider participating in one of our "First Things First" projects. So far, 37 people have signed up to be a part of one more of the following: 1) Bible Study, 2) Prayer and Fasting, 3) covenant dyads, and 4) workshops on witnessing.
The online Bible study has started and you can join at any time.
Our church-wide day of fasting is Thursday. Call the office or talk to one of the pastors for information or to be a part of the group practicing this ancient spiritual discipline.

We would like to say "Thank you"
to our Church Family for their prayers and support during Mike's knee surgery and the passing of Debbie's mother.

The sermon series in August is: "Four Things Jesus Wants Us to Do." The series comes from Matthew 10:8 and includes the following commands Jesus gives his disciples: heal the sick, cleanse the leper, exorcise the demons, raise the dead. Each week will focus on a different command.
You may hear the sermons on our website (they are usually posted by the Tuesday after.)

Keeping Up With Jordan and Mike
Pastor Mike conducted the funeral for long time member, Betty Davis. He took the day off Friday to help Jie with a Chinese ministry project, taking 25 Chinese scholars to the State Fair. He also has been supervising the committee restructuring (see earlier article) and getting finance reports updated.
Jordan has been working on the children's ministry plan for the fall. On Friday, he takes the youth group to a ballgame and a day in St. Louis.
