City of Hamilton Seeks Input on "Plan Hamilton," the Community's New Comprehensive Plan
Hamilton, Ohio - The City of Hamilton is embarking on a process to create a new comprehensive plan. The comprehensive plan, which is being branded as Plan Hamilton, will be a policy document that establishes the long-term vision for the physical development of the city. The document will take into consideration elements such as land use, economic development, transportation, utilities, parks, neighborhoods, and housing. The plan is intended to be used by city leaders as part of their decision-making process over the next 10 to 15 years. The last comprehensive planning process was initiated in 1998.

Plan Hamilton will be a community driven effort where the citizens of Hamilton will have a variety of opportunities to help craft the plan's policies. Over the course of the next year, Hamilton staff members, along with the City's consulting team, will be facilitating a number of public meetings, online surveys, and other forums where citizens can provide ideas that will be considered for the plan.

Citizens can keep up-to-date on the project by going to www.PlanHamilton.com to learn about upcoming events, review feedback gathered during past events, and review or download reports and drafts of the plan as they become available.

"Plan Hamilton will guide the development strategies the City utilizes for the next 10 to 15 years, so citizen input in critical to ensure that Plan Hamilton's priorities reflect the needs and vision of our residents," stated Liz Hayden, acting Planning Director for the City of Hamilton.

The first scheduled public events for the project will be a series of five public neighborhood meetings held throughout the City where citizens will be able to participate in several interactive discussions about the future of the community. The format and activities of each of these meetings will be identical so citizens are encouraged to attend the one that is most convenient for them. Following the five meetings, the City will host a follow-up meeting at City Hall where everyone is invited to see a summary of the input provided at the five neighborhood meetings.

"The comprehensive planning process provides a great opportunity for our residents to shape the future of our city and I encourage all Hamiltonians to participate in the community meetings. This vision of this plan will guide our decisions moving forward," said Joshua Smith, City Manager for the City of Hamilton.
