 The Doctor's Note

Dear Keller High School Families,

Welcome back to what will prove to be an exciting 2017-18 school year at Keller High School! The staff is eager to have students back in our classrooms and hallways filled with energy and enthusiasm for learning. Keller High School is destined for amazing things in 2017-18.

High standards and expectations for each student in regard to academic performance, athletics, fine arts, and extra-curricular participation, and responsible citizenship are the foundation of our school. It is with pride that we hold these high standards and ask each of our students to commit to maintaining the extraordinary record of achievement and contribution that has been the legacy of Keller High School students. It is the contribution of our students to our school community that makes Keller High School an exceptional learning community. Full participation in academic and co-curricular programs and a willingness to act responsibly as an individual within our educational environment are the factors that enable all to have a successful and enjoyable year.

Last year was a transformational experience for the campus as we settled into our newly renovated home. The physical transformation gave us an opportunity to reflect on our vision for Keller High School. We spent the better part of last school year engaging with our stakeholders, faculty, students and parents, to define and commit to a shared vision for Keller HS. The result is the following mission statement: Keller High School develops students both in mind and character, preparing them for future success by instilling high academic and ethical standards. In order to achieve this vision, we have identified our Culture Statements below:

Relationships: We make the KHS family our priority.
Community: We emphasize kindness and inclusion.
Education: We promote lifelong learning and innovation.
Communication: We value the effective exchange of ideas.
Service: We give back to our school and community.
Excellence: We encourage high achievement in all endeavors.
Respect: We honor our traditions.

The excitement around Keller HS is contagious and we look forward to the Culture Statements anchoring the decisions that we make for our students and community.

I wish you all a wonderful school year! If I can be of any assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me and know that my door is always open. I can be reached at michael.nasra@kellerisd.net . I am honored to serve as your principal.

Sincerely,

Dr. Michael Nasra
