Digest #196

We have the news you need to know!

Cabrillo College has been awarded a $350K grant -- renewable for a total of $700K -- to build a Makerspace community to prepare students with STEAM skills to succeed in the innovation economy. (STEAM = Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math). Cruzio is gearing up to begin construction on their ambitious gigabit fiber project, starting with a public launch event tomorrow. We have two articles about Santa Cruz Fiber, including the lineup of leaders who'll be speaking at the launch party. With an AgTech revolution in our own backyard, one of two articles about AgTech in Salinas reports that despite the success of the third Forbes AgTech Summit, "the city's goal of transforming itself from agriculture behemoth (a $9 billion industry anchored by lettuce) into an agtech mecca has its critics."

As usual, we have more. Scroll down and start reading.
