"What Really Saves Us?"
Rev. Thom, preaching
Salvation doesn't have to be about getting into heaven. In fact, for religious liberals, it often has a this worldly focus. According to UU minister Scotty McLennan, "Salvation, in the final analysis, is about seeing our current life as ultimately meaningful." This morning we'll explore what salvation might mean from a liberal religious perspective.

UU READERS On Saturday, August 19, at 10:30 in Kirby Room, UU Readers are reviewing a book of essays by some 19 UU Ministers on the health and future prospects of our denomination.  The essays cover three assumptions that could hinder our growth, and three promises that could reinvigorate our denomination.  Some seven churches which have committed to living out the promises are also described.  Please join us if this topic interests you-we welcome folks on a drop-in basis.
THE STANDING ON THE SIDE OF LOVE MINISTRY TEAM invites you to our Love Lunch August 20, 12-2:00 in the Community Room, where we will be planning for Pride Fest, and for our next Concert for a Cause, to benefit the Movement to End Racism and Islamophobia.  If you are interested in helping with these events, or just want to know more about our justice work, please join us.  RSVP to Ruth Gibson so we'll know how many folks we are feeding.
