PARK REVITALIZATION EFFORT FULLY FUNDED!

If you recall from the past month's newsletter, and as noted  in a recent issue of the Wellsboro Gazette, an article described the generous donations given to the Partnership, as fiscal sponsor for the Valley Youth Initiative, for the express purpose of revitalizing Elkland's Jerome Park. Initial funding came from the local Tabor Foundation as well as Dominion Energy, totaling $12,500. We would also like to announce another generous donation that came from the local Packer Foundation in the amount of $7500! This project is now fully funded!  We are currently in discussions with Dominion Energy to gain volunteer manpower for the construction of a new pavilion. We are extremely grateful to all of our funders for this worthy endeavor! Thank you!

THAT'S A WRAP!

It's been a great summer full of fun, recreation, and educational workshops. Friendships have been forged and it's bittersweet to realize it's almost time to go back to school. The Fit For Life recreation staff will be sending each child back to school with a special backpack filled with school supplies, healthy snacks, and a personalized note to show how much they care. Thank you to all who supported and participated in the Fit For Life program! See you next year!

2017/18 PREVENTION IN SCHOOLS

Coleen Evert, our Prevention Specialist will once again be providing prevention education to the second graders in Blossburg and Liberty Elementary schools with plans to expand to third grade in Blossburg and other schools in the future. Using Wagner the Dog, Coleen teaches students about  managing stress, empathizing, and engaging in groups. Are you concerned that your child's skills learned from the past school year will be forgotten by the time school starts again? Build upon the prevention education received by  learning how to use social emotional and prevention education skills during the summer months.
