We're rolling up our sleeves to improve early literacy! United Way hosted a joint meeting of all the working groups for our community-wide process on Wednesday, June 28 at United Way. 
Steve Greeley and Brad Bauler of DCA, Inc. facilitated a review of the strategies for family engagement, early learning, summer learning and attendance. 
This is a collaborative effort by foundations, nonprofit groups, business leaders, government agencies and local communities across northern Nevada and the result will be a formal plan for moving forward. 
The plan (to be unveiled in the fall) will ensure that more children succeed in school and graduate prepared for college, a career, and active citizenship.

Day of Action 2017
On June 21st, UWNNS joined the Neil Road Youth Site Boys & Girls Club for fun indoor and outdoor activities for Day of Action 2017. Nearly 200 summer day camp kids participated in UWNNS led activities that included story times, number tag, alphabet memory games, and story writing-emphasizing the importance of keeping kids engaged year-round!
