A Note from Michael
The Freedom 5K on Main was very successful in spite of the early morning thunderstorms that blew through! The rain actually helped by keeping the temperatures down which made the race even better than we expected! I've heard many great compliments from runners and spectators and we owe that to our incredible volunteers who stepped up to the plate again! You gave your holiday morning - some of you as early as 5:30am - to come out and serve our members and participants. You are the reason this race ran so smoothly! Thank you! Special thanks also to our sponsors - we had more than ever and you helped make it one of the best 5Ks we've held. The City of Rowlett also had an outstanding event last night with over 15,000 people in attendance to hear the Bellamy Brothers and see the fireworks! Well done Rowlett!
I'm excited about the future of your Chamber of Commerce and about upcoming improvements that will allow us to serve you better! One of those is this new and improved newsletter format! We realized that the previous format wasn't as helpful or practical as it needed to be for our members so Laura has worked hard to develop this new format. Didn't she do a wonderful job? I do need your input though. What do you think we should call the newsletter in this new format. Do you want us to continue calling it "The Correspondent" or would you prefer "Rowlett Chamber News"?
Finally, this month's Friday Night Live, July 21st, will be a Member Appreciation Night and will be held here at the Chamber office. Make sure you've got it on your calendar! We'll have more news soon about other improvements coming but just know that we are working hard to ensure that every event, program and activity benefit you. As always, please know you can reach out to us at any time and we will do whatever we can do help!
