Scarborough Manor Solar Update
Scarborough Manor Board Members and the Sunrise Solar team met this week to celebrate the amazing success of the new installation at Scarborough Manor: "the largest residential solar energy installation in Westchester County." Scarborough Manor, a 205-unit cooperative residential complex in Ossining, N.Y., is now equipped to generate enough energy to power 25 percent of the co-op's projected electrical needs for the entire complex, including its common areas, such as the lobbies, hallways, exterior lighting, clubhouse and gatehouse. Those hefty utility savings, combined with current tax credits and incentives, create an exceptional value for the co-op; in fact, Scarborough Manor board president Gary Montesano estimates the net cost of solar for the complex at an astonishing 45 percent of the gross cost. "That's a phenomenal investment," Mr. Montesano says.  Read more.

Our Pledge:
Sunrise Commits to Clean Energy
We proudly support the Paris Climate Accord, and stand in opposition to President Trump's withdrawal from this important agreement. These actions go strictly against Sunrise Solar's mission: to power homes and businesses with clean, efficient and sustainable energy and in support of a greener planet. We actively support the United States Climate Alliance, initiated by Governor Cuomo, who signed an executive order to commit New York to uphold the standards set forth in the Paris Accord. To date, the Governors of New York, California, Washington, Hawaii, Oregon, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Vermont and Massachusetts announced that their states are joining the United States Climate Alliance and will abide by the emission reduction targets in the Paris Accord. Sunrise in the Community
We spent the Summer Solstice -- the longest day of the year -- celebrating at a Briarcliff Manor Chamber of Commerce event, where we showcased the impressive solar artwork from this year's Make a Difference One Ray at a Time Solar Art Contest  -- our annual event, inviting students from Westchester and Rockland counties to show off their art and photography talent, and illustrate ways that solar power can make earth a better place.

We were proud to honor this year's winners, Victoria Fears and Tyler Lowe, both from Tappan Zee High School, with an awards presentation. Thanks to FIOS TV for their wonderful coverage of the event and informative interview with Sunrise COO Rand Manasse, and their coverage of  our impressive contest winners. Watch our facebook page for upcoming photos from this memorable event.
Solar Success Story: Ryan & Ryan Insurance, Kingston, N.Y.
A detailed site analysis by Sunrise Solar Solutions LLC revealed that this office building had enough roof space to offset the entire electric bill of this local insurance company -- and that there was a second meter with almost no usage. The utility was charging over $1,000 a year in meter and basic service charges alone.

As part of the solar installation, we eliminated the second meter and re-fed all the electric through the main service. This allowed the solar system to power the entire building, while saving the company another $1,000 year in unnecessary meter chargers. The end result? A projected $69,654 in savings over the life of the system!

"I was skeptical at first, even after I signed the contract, but now that I have seen months of $0 bills, I am a believer," says Bob Ryan, President of Ryan & Ryan Insurance.
