Dear Parents and Guardians,
It is with great excitement that I extend a welcome to you and your families back to Saint Luke for another year of adventure in learning, growth in faith, and strength in our community! As we head into the next academic year, I should let you know that our theme for the school year is "
We are One Body...One Body in Christ
", a theme shared in unity with the other 218 schools in the Archdiocese of Chicago. As we walk into the new school year, we'll reveal our school theme through many facets including school Masses, community events, prayer services, and service projects.
There are just a few changes with our faculty and staff that I'd like to make you aware of as we begin the year together. Ms. Amy Gleason, formerly a third grade teacher, has shifted to our ever-expanding learning center as a Learning Specialist, working in tandem with Ms. Stephenie Sutton. Ms. Melissa Harris, who sought to be a homeroom teacher for many years, will be the new third grade teacher along with Mrs. Carrie Munno. Additionally, Mrs. Lauren Mastranni has made the shift from the library to become our PE teacher, and she will start to design and roll-out a health and wellness curriculum for 5th and 6th grade students this upcoming year. Lastly, we are happy to give a warm and embracing welcome to our new middle-school math teacher, Mrs. Marissa Johnson, who recently moved from Seattle to Chicago with her husband, Andrew, and will make Saint Luke her home!
As you start to set your calendars for the next year, please include these important Bearcat community events: our
Back-to-School Chalk Party
on Sunday, August 20th from 4:30 - 6:00 pm and our
Parent Back-to-School Coffee and Welcome
in the gym, hosted by Father John Szmyd and the school administration on Monday, August 21st at 8:10 am.
In the meantime, know there is still more summer to savor and enjoy before your return to Bearcatland!
In Christ - in Light,
Tim Wesley
