Those are disclosures. Here's another: I'm not the Steve Martin that you've seen on TV and in the movies. But, you may have seen me at Ribbon Cuttings. I've gone to more than 50 over the past 18 months. I love seeing businesses and organizations choosing to open or expand in St. Charles!
I also love serving as the Chamber's Board Liaison for its Legislative Committee.
One definition of "Legislative" is "having the power to make laws." Oooh! Sounds like the Legislative Committee has some power! Well, not exactly. But we do offer Chamber members the opportunity to meet and talk with those who do.
You see, the Legislative Committee hosts a number of programs for Chamber members throughout the year, featuring a variety of speakers representing government at the local, state and national level. Check the Chamber Newsletter and emails for dates and details on the Legislative Mixer, the City Update, the Kane County Update, the State Update, the Federal Update, and a Legislative "Hot Topic." Attending these programs give you a chance to hear what's happening and to have your voice heard. How cool is that!?

It was a perfect evening to be on the Fox River and on the Paddlewheel Boats provided by Anderson Enterprises. At the Paddle Boat Mixer this year, members boarded either the Black Pearl or Queen Anne's Revenge Boats for this free networking event! Some attendees and sponsors dressed to the theme which made the event even more fun! It didn't matter which boat you were on, everyone who attended including the sponsors were all winners at this event!

Get Attention for Your Special Event with Temporary Signage
Will you be holding an event this summer that requires special signage? You have many options for temporary signage to help promote your business and special events.
Every business in town is permitted to obtain a temporary sign permit four times in a calendar year. Each permit is good for 14 days. Signs can advertise sales, special events, grand openings, etc. Businesses also can use the temporary sign permit for other forms of advertisement such as balloon signs, pennants, flags, streamers, and searchlights.
- Permitted sizes of banner signs vary based on the size of the property the business is located on.
- Balloon signs are limited to 7 feet tall or 7 feet wide.
- Temporary signage must be placed on the same property that contains the business.
- There are placement and time restrictions for a "Attention Getting Devices"
- Once a 14 day temporary sign permit has been issued, the business must wait 30 days before they can apply for another permit.
- Each sign permit fee is $45.00.
