The American Horse Council Survey

The American Horse Council Foundation is conducting a 2017 National Equine Economic Impact Study.

This survey is designed to capture the impact of individual horse owners (whether commercial or recreational) and industry suppliers of equine-related goods and services, such as equine veterinarians, trainers, breeders, lesson providers, trail guides/outfitters, retail suppliers, boarding stables, and farm managers. The results of this survey will be used by the American Horse Council to promote the economic benefits of the horse industry to policy makers.

As an active contributor to the equine industry, you may have received a survey invitation from multiple sources. We require only one response from each household.  However, if different members of a household manage different horse-related activities, more than one response per household is acceptable.

This survey will be asking for detailed information regarding horse-related revenues, expenses and employment. Please note that all responses are completely anonymous and confidential.

Depending upon the level of your involvement within the industry, the survey should take approximately 15-30 minutes to complete. However, if you need to exit the survey prior to completion, you may return using the same browser window for up to one week later.

AGRI-TOURISM KANSAS

There's A NEW ACT IN TOWN...The Kansas Department of Labor's Amusement Act effective July 1st. The Kansas Amusement Ride Act states that no amusement ride shall be operated in Kansas unless a valid permit for such ride has been issued by the Kansas Department of Labor (KDOL) and the owner of the ride has registered with KDOL as an amusement ride owner.

Who does this affect? If you have an agri-tourism business and you offer wagon rides, if the carriage/wagon is pulled by a tractor, this is pertinent to you. If you operate a horse-drawn vehicle, then this is not for you. If you have any amusement extras at your location, you may want to read more about this! Check it out at Kansas Department of Labor...Kansas Amusement Ride Act Permit Program.

Don't have an agri-tourism business but you are thinking about starting one? Check out what to do at:
For agri-tourism operations to be covered by the limited liability afforded in Senate Bill 334, you must first be registered as an agri-tourism business (See above link) and you must comply with ALL of the following: You must provide your own signage, it must be prominently posted at each agri-tourism location, and the sign must comply with verbiage and size requirements.

Need a Liability Sign? (K.S.A 60-4001 through 60-4004) Get yours today, either online, by mail or by phone. Visit our Kansas Horse Council website

News from Mission Valley Hunt Club

Mission Valley Hunt has 8 adorable fox hound puppies this summer, 2 boys and 6 girls!  They are currently being fostered by members to acclimate them to collars, leashes, a few basic commands and of course, a lot of love and spoiling!  Later in July a Puppy Preakness Party will held to show off the puppies' new skills and allow members to bid on their naming rights.  As is customary, following the last litter which have names beginning with 'G', this current litter of pups will all have names beginning with the letter 'H'.

Great Plains Summer Hunt Seminar is August 5, 2017 in Kansas City.  World renown speakers and Round Table Discussion with Q & A will be part of the day's activities.  This event is for the novice as well as the experienced fox hunter!

MVH will host a Fox Hunting Clinic Saturday, August 26.  This is another great opportunity to learn about the sport of following the hounds.

Hunter Trials will happen September 9 and is open to members from other Hunts as well as those interested in the sport of fox hunting.  Prizes, trophies and ribbons are awarded.

MVH Youth Hunt will take place on Sunday, October 1.  With many young members in MVH this is sure to be a popular day allowing the youth to experience some leadership roles.

Formal Opening Hunt with a party and auction to follow is planned for Saturday, October 28.

Please check out our website for more details!  www.missionvalleyhunt.com  or contact the MVH Secretary at 913-897-2250.
