Maryland Transit Administration Modernizes Reduced Fare Application Process

In alignment with the commitment to improve transit services for Maryland citizens, Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) recently modernized the process for applying for reduced fare by launching an online application to replace the paper form process. Under this free service registered care providers will submit the reduced fare application online, on behalf of their patients. This means that Maryland reduced fare patrons are no longer required to pick-up a paper application form from a transit office before a scheduled appointment with their care provider.

The reduced fare ID card will be ready for processing the next business day following the submission of the application at the MTA Reduced Fare Certification office

This newly adopted process will reduce processing times, increase security to prevent fraud, and give care providers an online record in which they can replicate when submitting future applications.

The MTA's Reduced Fare system was developed, is hosted and maintained by  NIC Maryland at no cost to the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT), MTA, or patrons by leveraging a self-funded master contract with the Department of Information Technology (DoIT).
