Prayer Focus for This Week

Pray for our Saint Mark Vacation Bible School (7/23 - 7/27).  Pray for all of the children that will attend.  Pray that they will grow in faith from their VBS experience.  Pray for the VBS planners, decorators, teachers, shepherds, and all other helpers involved in making VBS happen this year.

Pray also for Special Friends Day Camp - for all of the special needs children and their siblings who will participate.  Pray for all of the leaders and the youth who will devote their time and attention to the children - who will make this year's camp special for these precious children.

Saint Mark 3:20 Prayer P.U.S.H. Campaign
Begins THIS Sunday, July 23

This Sunday, July 23, Saint Mark disciples will be given a prayer opportunity. We are calling it 3:20 Prayer P.U.S.H. (Pray Until Something Happens). This prayer campaign is based on the text found in Ephesians 3:20-21, "Now to God, who by the power at work within us, is able to accomplish abundantly far more than all we can ask or imagine, to go be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever."

This Sunday during worship, Prayer P.U.S.H. Cards will be distributed as a reminder for everyone to join together for a minute of prayer at 3:20 pm each day to first, thank God for what He has already done, and to second, ask Him to be fully in our midst as we faithfully participate in Saint Mark ministries by our prayers, presence, gifts, service and witness. Will you join us?

BEGINS THIS SUNDAY!! Click here to register your child, grandchild, neighbor and/or friend.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION

Welcome New Saint Mark Disciples!

We extend a warm Saint Mark welcome to Doug and Barb Dyson who made it official during the 9 am service on Sunday, July 16.  They come to us by way of transfer of membership from Alpharetta First United Methodist Church near Atlanta.  Both have been United Methodists since 1993. They have four adult children. Doug and Barb look forward to getting more involved in the life of our community.  Please make them feel at home!

Marvin's Kids 2017

Has "Summer at Saint Mark" inspired you to explore a new way to express your love and compassion for your neighbors here in Oconee County? Have you supported the Marvin's Kids ministry in the past with the purchase of gifts for the children but wonder how you can make a more meaningful contribution to families in need? If you feel that "nudge", Marvin's Kids needs your help in enriching the lives of those we serve.

What can you do?  Volunteer to be a Marvin's Kids home visitor. Families are selected to be Marvin's Kids participants by the school guidance counselors. Home visitors meet with the families in the Marvin's Kids participant's home, beginning in October.

What is the role of the home visitor?  In addition to the initial meeting with the family, there are additional opportunities to interact and establish a relationship with a Marvin's Kids family.

When else does a family interact with a Marvin's Kids volunteer?  There are five other planned occasions on which a family could interact with Marvin's Kids volunteers. Beginning this year, our goal is to have the home visitor interact with the family they initially contact on as many subsequent occasions as possible.

What is the time commitment?  After attending an initial 90 minute training session in September, the time involved would be approximately 12 hours total per family, from October to February.
I'm feeling the "nudge". Who do I contact for more information or to volunteer? Please call Sandy James at (864) 972-1122, or click here to send her an email.

DREAM Update

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! to the 135 families that have made pledges totaling $665,417! Although we might anticipate more pledges and contributions coming in, we will call this our final update. Conservative calculations now indicate at the end of the 3-year campaign period, we will have reduced the term of the mortgage by more than 5 years (pay off in October of 2022)! So again, THANK YOU for making a giant difference in Saint Mark's future.
