Care About The Future Of The Neighborhood? ![]() Kerns Nieghborhood Association Needs YOU! Board elections will be held at our upcoming May 17th meeting, and we are seeking new board members to join the community conversation. Now is your chance to join the KNA board and let your voice be heard. If you live, work or own property in the neighborhood, being on the board is great opportunity to gain leadership skills, connect with neighbors, and give input about the future of the neighborhood. We would love to have you on board!Board members serve for our entire neighborhood -- we need more people to share the love and sustain our organization. We are in need of people to fill board positions and volunteers to help keep our annual events alive & healthy. A fun upcoming event is the annual National Night Out planned for Tuesday, August 1st. Each year, over 500 neighbors join us for an evening of fun with live music, free food and raffle prizes from local businesses. Help coordinate activities, be a volunteer for the event and we can show you the ropes. The picnic is a wonderful gathering of neighbors for live music, food, fun, raffle prizes from local businesses. Open board positions are a Treasurer, Landuse, SE Uplift Board member and Crime Prevention Chair. We also can always use help on the Communications committee, specifically updating the website (www.kernspdx.org) and posting to our Facebook page. Please consider becoming an active member of our board so we can continue to be a thriving neighborhood organization. We can't do it without your help! If you are interested in helping, please email: kernsna@gmail.com. |

Look Up Monthly Crime Statistics For Your Neighborhood
Neighborhood statistics provide a general idea of "reported crimes." However, the data needs to be understood in the larger context because there may be other contributing factors.
www.portlandoregon.gov/police/OpenData (select Crime Statistics). Call 9-1-1 for immediate threats to life or property and crimes in progress. Call the police non-emergency number 503-823-3333 to report crime that has already occurred if the suspect is long gone. You can also call if you are witnessing suspicious activity that is not an immediate threat. Report online at portlandoregon.gov/police/cor for certain crimes with no suspects such as car prowls and theft of items from publicly accessible spaces. Not all crimes can be reported here, so please review the criteria before you file a report. |

This may be a symbolic gesture to show support or we may be able to develop more specific actions around deportations and/or potential loss of funding as a result of Portland's Sanctuary City status. |

Accepted To Aid in Public Safety
If you have a security camera at your house or business-or if you have a game camera in your yard.
It can be helpful in identifying package theft suspects who step up to porches and steal deliveries. It's most helpful if you have your recording time set to a minimum of two weeks before the footage is recorded over, in case it takes a while for investigators to locate where incidents have occurred (or if you've realized that an ordered parcel hasn't arrived). Knowing ahead of time where cameras exist can save investigative time and resources when a crime occurs in your neighborhood and may help solve and prevent crime. To register your surveillance camera, please visit:
