STATE MATH TEACHER OF THE YEAR

Chris Bolognese, chair of Columbus Academy's math department, has been selected as the state math teacher of the year! "The biggest thing I have learned in my career is the importance of being able to learn, try and reflect on new ideas, all for the betterment of enhancing a student's learning experience," said Chris about this honor from the Ohio Council of Teachers of Mathematics that is formally called the Buck Martin Award for Exemplary Mathematics Teaching. "I'll never stop learning as a teacher and will always support my students and colleagues to take on new challenges and risks."
FENCING NATIONAL CHAMPION

In July, Academy freshman Chloe Gouhin won the national title in Y-14 women's saber at the 2017 USA Fencing National Championships by defeating the top seed 15-12 in the finals. Chloe also placed eighth in women's cadet (U17) saber at the event in Salt Lake City. Prior to the national tournament, she earned recognition from the US Fencing Association for compiling the most competition points in her region.
